I have a regulator router and wanted a plunge router for smaller jobs. I like the feel of this router.

The router is really good but i cannot use it in my router table so i have to change it with a plunge/fixed base combo.

I got this router to use in flattening slabs. It does that well with a 2″ spoilboard bit. The depth stop and “micro adjuster” are a bit of a pain to use but, it does work. The lock when you plunge the router and lock it in place must NOT be over tightened! I have learned that the hard way. If you horse it down, you’ll scar up the rod that the locking screw presses against. Scaring up that rod will cause your plunge to jam! I know this because I did it. The fix is fairly easy. Just take off the locking lever, unscrew the locking screw (left hand thread!), take off the two nuts from the height adjustment threaded rod and lift the router off the base. Then you can remove the spring and use sand paper to smooth out the rod. You’ll also probably need to smooth over the end of the locking bolt. Put it all back together when done. You’ll have to play around witht eh locking screw/bolt to find where it will allow the router to freely move but still lock when you need it to.

Router was good and powerful for the first 3 yrs of occasional use up until it was out of the 2 yr warranty. 1st gripe, it seems the power cord comes straight out of the top that is in the way when changing out bits. 2nd and most important is the plunge lock is defective. When locking the plunge and starting my routing, the plunge slips, which messed up the work I was doing. After careful inspection, I found the screw for the lock that is attached to the locking lever was broke inside the housing and I was unable to fix myself. Ordered a new plunge router (not a Ryobi). My other Ryobi products seem to be doing fine though.

Not really all that impressed max depth 1.4″ the cord placement puts it in the way when you pick up, the cord wants to twist into a knot and will twist its way into bit when you lift router, I would not buy another

Works great for use on my router table. I recommend getting 1 2″ extender to ease the spring on the router plunger.

Tons of power, it hooks less at higher speeds.

I used this router heavily right out of the box and it preformed very well. I would recommend it for medium size jobs.
