I got this to replace a 20+ year old sander. That one still works but is cumbersome to use and requires two hands. This one did a great job and was easy to use. The dust bag collects a lot on its own but is great when attached to a shop vacuum. For the price, this has exceeded my expectations.

My last 3 random orbital sanders bit the dust and I could no longer get parts for them and I was in need of a new sander quickly. While I have battery operated Ryobi nail guns, both 23 gage and 18 gage, a palm router, 5′ circular saw and a Ryobi stick vacuum and they have all served me well, I did not need a battery powered random orbital sander because it will never leave the shop. My biggest requirement for a new ROS was a dust port to connect it to my shop vac. A lot of the ROS that I looked at did not have this feature and dust control is very important in my shop. The sander does a very good job at what it was designed for and the price was very good.

Purchased to do a live edge bar top after another brand sander stopped working trying to remove stain that turned out horrible, I ended up torching it, then epoxy. I wouldn’t have been able to remove the stain and have a nice smooth, even top with out this. I was really impressed by how well it works. The dust collection is great.

Works exactly as described. It’s a little big, but comfortable with good dust collection. I’d buy it again.

My old (not a Ryobi) orbital sander broke while renovating a deck. As I’m very happy with a few other Ryobi tools, I decided to give the Ryobi sander a try. Very powerful, very comfortable to use, and leaves a smooth surface regardless what sandpaper grit I use. All in all, I’m extremely happy with it, and highly recommend it.

Not to load and vibration isnt tarriable. Very easy to use!

Main bearing keeps getting clogged with dust and need to be taken out and cleaned . If not the sander spins uncontrollably fast and becomes very fast . Otherwise it works great for the price point .

I’ve had this for a few years and it’s always been fine for small projects that don’t require super-high quality finishing. However, I’ve recently been working with staining and this sander is just not the right tool for the job. The lack of side handles make it wobble and prone to swirl marks and the bag is only about 60% effective at catching the dust. A truly discouraging amount of dust just leaks from around it… I’ve managed to make it work by gripping it HARD by the base, moving VERY slowly, and regularly blowing/vacuuming dust but it was a painful learning process to finally get rid of those swirl marks.I’m fully subscribed to the ryobi 18v family and have generally been happy with their stuff. This is one of the few corded tools I’ve bought and I wish that I’d paid a few bucks more for a different brand.

I was sanding my deck with another manufacturer’s sander and in the process it broke. I ran out to get a new sander and came across this sander. I bought it to finish the job. It worked better than ever

This is my First RYOBI purchaseI’ve been needing one of these for some time now and I did a lot of research thru all the brand names. My power tools are mostly that big “D” brand and all cordless but this one has no battery just the 110VAC wire. I don’t figure I’ll be using this outside my shop or away from an outlet but most of all I’ll be needing that constant RPM I can get from my wall outlet for a smoother finish. Checking all the brands I found that this model RYOBI has the best standards to match my woodshop needs. It’s going to give me just what my projects require now and in the future.
