The RYOBI 40-Volt X Expand-it Trimmer delivers power like a gas trimmer, with none of the hassle of mixing oil and gas. Attachment capability means you can add on RYOBI Expand-It attachments, saving you time, money and space. The Cordless Trimmer comes with premium 0.080 in. twisted line and the REEL-EASY bump-feed string head for faster reloads. The cutting width is adjustable for longer run time or wider cutting width. I purchased this as a replacement for my 25 year old Ryobi gas trimmer. I had attachments that I learned would fit the battery powered model. I figured even if it was marginal I could still get some use out of the attachments. It proved itself with our recent snow storm. It powered the snow blower attachment admirably even though it was heavy wet snow. It’s perfect for my needs.

So, I got tired of having to replace string trimmers. I spend $150 on them and they last for several years and then they either need to be serviced (at $100) or replaced. I decided to buy a Ryobi battery powered trimmer. I looked at the 18v since I have a bunch of 18v Ryobi tools, but the 40v wasn’t much more and it has the ability to use attachments. I used the trimmer all summer and I had to charge it 2 times. It works great. And it doesn’t need gas mix and it doesn’t need to be started and it’s quiet. It’s a great purchase.
