I love this mower. I previously bought the non self propelled ryobi. It is a great mower, but as I’ve now found out with this new mower, self propelled is tremendous. This mower is awesome and if you want a good reliable way to use electric. Trust me, go with ryobi!

I’ve had this mower for nearly two months now and had the opportunity to use it under varying conditions.Pros:- No fluids, no belts, easy start- Lighter than gas mower- Store on end to save space- Excellent mulching!!!- Easy height adjustment- Quieter than gasCons: – Short battery life. I finish about 2/3 of my 1/3 acre lot before the battery dies- Long charge time- Slows down as the battery get low- Less crisp of a cut compared to gas- Self propel motor whines- Self propel takes a moment to engage and occasionally does not triggerBottom line:- Self propel took some getting used to, but after a few mows the delays and finickiness are not bad.- Most yards will need an extra battery. But, if you already have some Ryobi 40v devices, then this is a great addition to your toolset.

I bought this for my husband, he absolutely loves it. Easy start up, does front and back yard without a struggle, powerful motor. Battery has plenty of charge left when he’s done. He highly recommends the mower.

This is very powerful even on the lowest power setting. It picked up small oak tree leaves that our other mower left behind and it was able to handle the small branches and twigs that fell out of our two heritage oak trees during the latest wind storm. It’s easy to empty the collection bag. Love it.

Excellent product easy to unbox and set up, registration went easily. Price was very good, I had looked at many places before buying. Great service at store, I called and product was waiting for me at register and was loaded for me.

Overall pretty happy with the mower. The bagger works especially well. Battery requires about 4 hours to charge. The optional quick charger is well worth the extra money.

The handle is lose causes not to start all the time.

I didn’t want the hassle of a gas mower. The mower is just as powerful as gas and cuts very well. I would recommend a second battery if your yard is more than a 20-30 minute cut or you have a hill.

I’m very pleased with the mower. It cuts the grass well. It’s strong enough to handle small branches and twigs that have fallen from the trees. The self propeller is very powerful. With my old mower, I could keep the propeller in motion and turn the corner without releasing the lever. This mower is so strong that I have to release my hand off of the lever, turn the corner and then press on it again. I don’t mind that though. I have a 1/4 acre lot and I am almost able to finish mowing it on one charge. I mow about 3/4 of my yard and then I do the rest another day. The bag that catches the grass is working great. I actually took it off because I found the bag to fill up very quickly. I just let the cut grass sit on top of the lawn. The noise is quieter than a gas mower and of course, no gas or oil to deal with. I feel like the craftsmanship is fine. It did take three weeks before it shipped out but I understand that the Coronavirus has impacted that.

Pretty good machine, with a few shortcomingsThe power-drive function is cheaply made, and I expect the plastic control levers to break, while the potentiometer for the speed control doesn’t allow a slow enough speed for heavy St. Augustine grass. So, the powered drive feature at added cost over the base model is pretty much useless as delivered. Also, the safety interlocks require the handle to be fully extended for the motor to switch on – an ergonomics problem for my 5′-2″ wife when she wants to use it.I need to add a resistor in series to the speed control pot, move the limit switch to make these features function as desired.

This mower does an excellent job of cutting grass in mulching mode. I also used it to collect and bag debris after doing a vigorous dethatching (with a machine) and it performed admirably with that as well. It mows our yard, about 6700 sq. ft., on one charge of the 7.5 amp battery. I usually push it instead of using the self-powered mode, so I get a little more exercise, and it is easy to push. My wife uses the powered mode and enjoys the ability to adjust the speed readily. The height adjustment is easy with one lever used to adjust all 4 wheels at once. It is quiet, although I use ear protection anyway, partly so I can listen to music and also to help preserve my already damaged hearing. I highly recommend it this mower. Of course, I do NOT miss storing gasoline, changing oil, pulling the recoil starter multiple times, smelling fumes and hearing loud noises, etc. I had bought the previous model and found that it would not cut and mulch properly and would not bag leaves, so I returned it and left a one star review. This mower was later provided at no cost by Home Depot, as they contacted me and were disturbed by the previous mower’s poor performance in my yard. If I had to pay for this mower I would have given this same review, as it really is a pleasure to use. In many applications, electric is becoming the way to do it.

The lawn mower self propelled mechanism it was either to slow or so fast you were running behind it, there was no in between. It cuts the grass great had good run times. It doesn’t take up to much room in the shed, is quiet. The only complaint was you couldn’t control how fast or slow it propelled you across the yard. The squeeze handle for self propelled mechanism is weak and more than likely would have broke. We love Ryobi tools and been buying them for 20 years. We traded this model for the 20 inch push mower Ryobi and my husband loves it.

I ordered this product on-line since the local store did not have it in inventory. It came in a couple of days. That was great service. However, the Mulching plug and its rear discharge chute design leave much to be desired on this unit. I was used to a deck with a locking rear door open/closer and side mulching/discharge door and adapter on my old 2011 gas electric start walk behind self propelled mower. The included mulching plug for this unit did not fit snug and was partially open on one side when fully installed. A call to Customer Service was great and a replacement ordered. The replacement unit was received and this plug has to be forced into the chute and the holding bar at the top is difficult to get over the top such that the “locking” handle doesn’t move down further once the plug is fully inserted with the holding bars fully into the grooves. If that plug,or the original one, could ever come out of the chute while mowing the machine it would throw dangerous cuttings, twigs and/or rocks into the operator. The bagger is satisfactory. The machine cuts zoyshia and bermuda well (Set to 3″), but had a hard time with a few nut grass stems. I expect that moving slower over them would provide a better cut. As indicated in a couple other reviews, the pacer does not calibrate well, OK full left, but the first notch is to great an increase in walking speed. My grass area is approximately 3,000 sq ft and only used one bar on the battery each mowing, that is great. I have only had this unit for a little over a week, this mower did a good job on trimming both types of grass and is quite easy to manage around inner curves of beds and to back up when needed.I had originally thought about purchasing the side chute plug, but if I keep this mower, I will not even try having the side chute. Again, kudos to the service rep who handled my original call. I have not yet heard back from Customer Service after indicating some continued problem with the plug which I have since been at lease able to get into the chute, but this was a holiday weekend. As an aside note, I have a degree and experience as a mechanical engineer and am truly disappointed in what I consider to be a serious design flaw. I am considering returning this unit to the store before 90 days, but have not found an available battery unit with the same basic design as my previous gas unit. If Home Depot or Ryobi is interested in the make and model of my previous gasoline mower, I would provide that information.I would rate the mower much higher except for the design flaw indicated above. And, I was planning to have a whole set of Ryobi lawn products, trimmer, edger, blower and tiller with a new battery head planned to replace the gasoline trimmer unit and the mower.

We have owned this mower for about a month now, and we are very pleased. It is Powerful – equal or better than a gas mower same sizeIt is ready – whenever you have a charged batteryMany features – Easy to adjust cutting height- Variable speed set adjusts to desired walking paceHandle – Folds down easy for storageHeadlights – Not really needed yet or ever will, never mow in the dark not sure how much battery it uses, whatever it is, it’s wasted. Our lot is about 1/8 acre, so far the battery does it with about 1/2 the charge on the 7.5 amp that came with the unit.

I’ve been a gas mower since I was a kid and now I’m 57 I should have bought a battery powered mower sooner, very pleased with my ryobi mower.

Never owned or used a battery operated lawn mower before this. I remember the old electric mowers – extension cord that HOPEFULLY unwound and rewound as you worked. What a pain. Well, after hemming and hawing over the Ryobi line (I have tons of their tools) I decided to retire my self propelled Toro™ and get this baby. What a great decision – cuts and mulches like that old 6HP gas model, has a battery that lasts just long enough to finishg the job. Easy to push – I rarely even use the self propelled option. Just started to see a bunch of early leaves dropping and no problem – mulch or bag…it works!Forget storing gas, oil, plugs, filters, etc. Ryobi does not disappoint – again!
