More robust battery would allow me to give a five star rating.

Easy to assemble; works great. Cuts my 3000 sq. ft. of grass using only about 1/2 the battery’s capacity. A couple of minor negatives – – the motor is interlocked with the grass catcher and the sensor (to be sure bag is installed) is a bit fiddly. Sometimes I need to reposition the bag before the mower will start. Also, it is lacking a bit in suction. It picks up grass okay but misses about half the leaves and most of the twigs. Overall, I’m glad I bought it.

Drive system is too touchy. Too much delay from squeezing the handle to movement. Other than that it cuts and bags well

Only used this once before winter started but it gets the advertised hour of battery life or so. This will still struggle in thick damp grass with the mulcher or when the bag starts to fill up and creates resistance against the grass exiting the deck and into bag. Would be nice if this included the side deck discharge shoot thing. I can only imagine the smaller Ryobi lithium mowers are weaker in comparison. Also not sure why the second battery compartment is a holder only? Would be nice if both battery banks were wired together for more run time.

Love it… There is a lag between when you push the self propelled lever and when the mower actually puts some power to the wheels, but I think that is minor.Overall I love to be able to mow without the fumes from using gas, the mower was easy to setup, and easier to operate.

Battery does not last as long as expected but the mower works great

Very quiet, lightweight and easy to maneuver. Ability to take up less storage space is definitely a plus. Battery life is more than sufficient for my lawn needs. Due to the plastic construction, it feels less durable than the usual gas mower, although it appears to be holding up quite well So far. Cut height adjustments are extremely easy to make, as is both bagging and mulching.

If it was an option, I’d give this mower 4.5 stars!! Setup was EASY, the battery did need charge time “out of the box”. HINT: as others have said, make sure the handles are FULLY extended or the mower won’t start, but ALSO, make sure the BAG is FULLY in place, or the blades won’t start. I’ve mowed my lawn with this three times now. Not certain on the exact dimensions of my lawn, but my total lot size is roughly 0.28 acres and obviously the house, garden beds, etc. take up a good chunck of that. If I recall correctly, Ryobi claims this thing will mow 0.5 acres on one charge. My yard is fairly flat, just some moderate slopes in the front yard. I used the self-propel fairly sparingly (mainly because the mower is SO light, which I LOVE, but for one other reason I’ll mention below) and had NO problem mowing the entire lawn on one charge. In fact, the battery power indicator showed “2 bars” (about 50%) of the battery still remaining when I was done. And keep in mind, if you have other Ryobi tools, as long as the battery is 40 volt, it can be used in this mower regardless of Ah (Amp-hour). 2 drawbacks I might mention – that are minor things for me to be honest… First, the bag size is smaller than I’m used to – not significantly, but smaller. Second, the self-propulsion on mine is slow to respond. When I pull the lever to engage it, it takes a couple seconds to “kick-in”, not sure if that’s normal, but I have found it reduces my use of it. Once it does engage, it works great, and the variable speed settings are good. 1 of my favorite features – the EASY lowering/raising of the mower. Like, so easy. Especially compared to what I’m used to. A final note – again, only used it three times, so longer-term durability is a question mark. I obviously can’t speak to that for another few years – but I would hope in buying a lawn mower that I can mow my simple residential lawn with it for many years (like, at least 7?) without major issues with the machine. I must admit this mower and some of it’s parts don’t feel exceptionally “sturdy”… they strike me as “plastic-ey” if that makes sense? Maybe put another way is that some of the parts of the mower are clearly made more cheaply than others – I don’t mean that as a gash against Ryobi, they’re providing a good product at a competitive price, just an observation.

Easy to setup & use. Especially easy to adjust the deck height with a simple pull of a lever.

Charged right up and used it the day it arrived.did a great job on my yardTook a couple of tries to get the hang of the delayed start and stop of the self propelled operation. It was light enough on smaller areas to not use the self propelled system

Very easy to assemble and use. Easy to manuver. Adjustable propel speed is great. Runtime around 45 minutes which was as expected. Bought an extra battery to eliminate wait time to complete mowing 1/2 acre yard. Highly recommend.

I love this mower! It starts easily, cuts and mulches beautifully and is very quiet. The self-propelled feature is very convenient to minimize the effort of mowing. Will plan on purchasing a second battery for springtime mowing. Long grass tends to reduce the battery life but otherwise it easily runs for 40+ minutes on a fully charged battery. Purchased August of 2020,

It seems to get the job done decently, but the handles for the self propulsion are made of a flimsy plastic and feel like they’re not going to last long before they break off. The drive also seems to have a very delayed reaction once engaged before it starts to move. But it cuts well and the battery lasts a very long time.

I was skeptical when I bought this mower but it runs and preforms excellent. I would have no problem recommending this mower. It far exceeded my expectations.
Tess Donnelly (verified owner) –
Excellent mower, runs great, easy operation….BUT THERE IS NO MANUAL TO BE HAD. Not in the box not on Ryobi online…Nowhere.

So easy to use….have not moved a lawn in 50 years! Love it-only used once but a great experience !

I will be glad to use next summer. I bought it late this year.

A great battery powered mower and was able to mow our 0.4 acres in under 45 minutes on one charge. The ability to reduce the handle size easily for a smaller storage footprint and ease of raising and lowering the deck is a big plus. The sound level is much lower than gas and avoiding the use of liquid fuel is a big plus.
