only briefly used the unit. I found it very powerful and fast. Various applications were viable. Yet I returned the unit because for me with a rather small yard I found it way more trimmer than needed and also found it was about double the weight of my former unit. Should work well for heavy duty trimming.

SIX (6) Major improvements over prior model include 1) Motor is now in the upper body. 2) Handle is now canted to an easier holding angle. 3) Battery Charger is now a Mini-charger. 4) Line-feed is now done by industry standard ground bump-thump. 5) Line is now metal wire filled. 6) Now dual-line whips, rather than single.

Only significant problem with the tool is the line advance feature which either advances the line too frequently, (every time you release trigger) and wastes a lot of line or it does not advance sufficientlyand you end up with it too short to be as effective as it could be. If this feature was fixed I would rate it as excellent.

This is the second trimmer I purchased. The first one started smoking and quit working me. I purchased five Ryobi tools plus extra batteries last summer. I would like to stick to one brand so the batteries are interchangeable. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with this second trimmer.

The trimmer is well balanced and easy to use. It changes to the edging position and back quite easily. The battery clicks easily and firmly in place, but is a little hard to remove – pinching the release button and pulling at the same time requires strong hands.

Plenty of torque, and I used a 2 amp hour battery, used it for quite a long time cleaning weeds from a brick sidewalk. Good battery life. The string head auto feeds on every trigger start, no bumping it on the ground, so that took a bit to get used to. Nice to not smell like 2 cycle oil afterwards!
