I need a chain saw a few times per year and this is the first battery one I have had.It does what I need it to do. There is enough power and the 40 volt gives enough run time to get what I need done. If I went to a gas saw I would spend $400. For 1/2 that amount I get what I need and don’t have to think about 2 cycle etc. I am satisfied that this is the right answer.

As a 50-something lady, the pulling of the starter on my gas-powered chainsaw was exhausting. I purchased this 14″ 40V Ryobi chainsaw to make small jobs easier (I already has batteries from a previous purchase). If you are doing a serious amount of difficulty wood-cutting, you will still want to use a gas-powered chainsaw, but for small jobs, this is perfect. Make sure you have at least 2 batteries available for use since if you use it at full power it won’t last as long as you would like. Also have plenty of bar & chain oil available since it seems to go through it like water. Every time you need to change the battery, you will also probably need to refill the oil reservoir (I love you can see the oil level through the side of the reservoir). With the recent work I have needed to do with wind-felled trees, this chainsaw has already paid for itself in my mind!

The Ryobi 40-Volt trimmer is a solid piece of equipment for yardwork. It is heavy duty, lasts about 40 minutes with non-stop use and has the power of a gas engine, without the mess of oil or gas! Has power to cut through thick weeds and I do use it for edging as well – does its job and then some. Downfalls of this equipment is that it is bloody heavy on the battery end! There is no easy way of balancing the trimmer, and after a while it does start to strain arms and backs if you are not careful. The charger included does its job well enough, takes about 3 hours to charge from fully drained to full again. Changing the string is easy and includes the tool for faster wrapping. I would get this again as I don’t have to haul around extension cords or gas anywhere and the battery is interchangeable with the rest of the the 40-Volt line by Ryobi.

Great weedwacker for me has done qreat the past two years. 2 acures of yard and i can still get it done in one charge. Feels just as good as gas. I have put it threw some abuse lately and she still solid. I do keep my lithium batteries in a safe temp at all times and you should also keep them in a safe place because if you swallow lithium, its a slow painful death. Especially around children. That being said id gladly buy one again. Very happy young customer with some grass cutting experience.
