I purchased this as a replacement for my 25 year old Ryobi gas trimmer. I had attachments that I learned would fit the battery powered model. I figured even if it was marginal I could still get some use out of the attachments. It proved itself with our recent snow storm. It powered the snow blower attachment admirably even though it was heavy wet snow. It’s perfect for my needs.

More power than other cordless trimmers I have used. Now I dont have to borrow the neighbors anymore. Grin. I have couple other ryobi tools with the 40v battery. The battery that comes with this trimmer is 40v but is smaller and lighter but not as powerful as my other two 40v batteries that came with my other ryobi tools. That is a good thing for the trimmer but I am disappointed that the battery does not power my blower like the two year old batteries that came with my other tools.

Excellent yard and garden tool. We purchased it primarily to cut down tall, dead rye grasses when raking our meadow area for the fall. This trimmer is very powerful and cut through the woody stalks with ease. Battery life seems great. If you do large projects and want the ability to trim continuously for hours at a stretch, it might be worth having a second 40-Volt lithium-ion battery available. Or buy a second Ryobi tool for other purposes but that uses an identical 40-Volt rechargeable battery. We have a powerful Ryobi cordless string trimmer for the lawn and a powerful Ryobi leaf blower. Those share the same battery type (larger than this cordless hedge cutter). But it’s great having two “mutually sharable” batteries for when we are edging the lawn and gardens or blowing leaves off of our roof and patio areas. Just a creative idea.
