I was impressed with the amount of power that this has for a battery powered tool. I have a medium sized yard with several trees and other landscaping to string trim around and this has enough charge to complete the task. I also like the pole saw attachment I purchased to go with this. Would recommend for home use, not sure how well it would work for commercial use. Would have to have several batteries for sure.

Nice edger. Plenty of power and the battery lasts a long time. The line winding gadget is cool too. The only thing I can complain about is that it seems to be kinda heavy.

It has strength but because of the battery it is for small spaces you need 2 batteries

For me, it’s just okay. I never feel like I have enough power. I don’t have a huge yard. But I have to go over areas twice to get it clean and straight.

Something is wrong with the connection… it keeps stopping and blade will not turn unless I tilt it up continuously.

I have used my new string trimmer several times now and I am impressed with its capability and runtime. It does as good a job as any gas powered unit I have used before and runtime is acceptable. I am in the process of going all cordless tools for outdoors. I have been a long term fan of Ryobi 18v cordless tools and have all the drills, driver’s, saws, etc. I look forward to future acquisition of the 40v chainsaw and lawnmower to complete my transition to electric.

Excellent Trimmer with Some Annoying Quirks.I bought the trimmer to replace an aging 2-cycle gas trimmer. To my moderate surprise it’s better than I expected. Despite a heavy 40 V battery, the trimmer is well balanced and easy to use. The power head is well made (unlike my gas trimmer; I was continually unwrapping grass that fouled the shaft). It cuts well. Get the heavy duty line, you’ll be glad you did. I spent the extra money to buy the brushless motor and I’m glad I did. It’s remarkably quiet for the amount of torque provided. So far on my 1 acre lot I haven’t found any type of grass that it won’t cut with ease. This is also better than my gas trimmer, which bogged down trying to cut anything other than St. Augustine and some broadleaf weeds. Battery life is above average. I cut 250 feet of overgrown drainage ditch and used ¾ of a battery. Pretty good, I think. Expect 1-2 hours to recharge. Now, the quirks. First, the trigger is hard to keep in the full power position. My ‘trigger finger’ ached for an hour after using the trimmer for the first time and the best position for comfort was about ¾ speed, which turned out to not be a problem, because I could set to the trimmer to high speed and it worked fine. For what I paid, I expected a better design, especially since there is no locking mechanism on the trigger–you have to hold it on all the time. Second, the plastic blades attachment that is supposed to be a kind of brush cutter isn’t all that good. It doesn’t do well against anything that’s more than ¼ in diameter. If what you are cutting is woody, don’t bother. Get the brush cutter attachment. It works very well.Overall, I am very pleased with the trimmer. I cuts better than anything I had before and doesn’t smoke or smell or refuse to start. I’d buy it again. Now, if they’d only fix the trigger.

It’s battery life surprised me. I was able to do about 40 min of work in medium height weeds.

Had a Ryobi 4 Cycle gas trimmer before this and the 40 volt electric beats it hands down feels lighter and stronger. I have all the attachments and they work as good or better.

I’ve only used it once due to the time of the year I bought it, but I already love it. I don’t have to buy gasoline and oil, then mix them, then go through the starting rituals involved in getting an old gas powered trimmer running. This trimmer is quieter, just as powerful, and all around better than my previous gas model (which was a top, commercially-used brand). I easily completed all trimming and edging around my yard on one battery charge. It was still running strong when I finished. I’m loving this move to electric so far!

Matched with the Ryobi power unit it works well. It will clog and jam with moist soil, but is easily cleared.

Impressed by its performance, after my brother-in-law had purchase a brushless weed cutter 40 volts only thing it lasted only a good for hour. So I went out and purchase a brushless 44 40 vote weed cutter my shelf then I purchase a set of four batteries 40-voltOP 4050 36V(40v Max) 6.0AH 216Wh more impressed I was by its performance it lasted over two and a half hours see back in 1980s I was in a RYOBI customer. And switch to DeWalt 20 volt because of its durability and performance I have a Complete Combinations set table saw ,Drill , Circular Saw and storage space it also is a work Table but I’m upset cause of durability which I find it very hard to work and the battery starts going down on me so rapidly I was tired of buying batteries after batteries after batteries even my brother-in-law bought a grass cutter which one can make this one the brushless and him too also was running out of power with only about 20 minutes of you am I told him the ROYBI battery tools does not have durability until I saw your4ov Brush less now I like to see your Brush less extension Chain Saw and also like to know if there a battery with durability to take care of my Combination set Aloha Uncle Leo
