It does with effort pick up leaves. Very fatiguing to maintain the angle needed to accomplish the leaf pick up process. Using a 4amp battery on the high setting, it was drained in about 15 min. Using on low suction it lasted longer. The leaf catcher is very dusty and one side of the zipper is very difficult to zip back up. One part of the impeller is metal and reduces leaves adequately. I have been using the 18V products exclusively for the past 8 years and have never been dissatisfied. This expensive foray into the 40V products just didn’t meet expectations.

Functions well with dry, loose, non-compacted leaves. If they are wet & compact, odds are it will not be picked up by the vac. The mulching feature does help compress the collected leaves but will not handle anything outside of leaves.

I live on a wooded lot with tons of trees and bought this product to mulch up leaves for our compost system and to be put back on our plant beds. It did the job well and I processed a LOT of leaves. I also have a ditch with rocks in it and it was helpful to clear the leaves out of that space. The highest setting can sometimes pick up wood chips or pine cones, which jammed the unit and required taking the front tube off to clear the blades. Not an entirely bad thing, but I wanted to point out that mostly the low to mid setting was enough for me to pick up leaves. Unfortunately the bag isn’t covered in the warranty, and i watched a small hole or two turn into large holes quickly. I believe the bag getting slightly wet made it wear out faster. There was a small hole in the bag near the connection when I bought the unit and I should have tried to exchange it, but it wouldn’t have made a big difference in the life of the bag. 4 stars since the bag needs to be replaced and should be a bit sturdier. I wish they sold a really tough bag.

I was all set to write a rave review. Was apprehensive reading all the negative comments, but it works pretty well as a vacuum. Much better than chasing leaves around with a blower. Yes it gets heavy, but you would expect carrying around several bags of leaves would be. And not for sucking up piles of wet leaves. Leave those leaves for gorilla gloves. I loved using this thing until it stopped working, so back to the store I go.

For someone who likes to spend time on garden work it is not bad, but it took me about an hour for an area which would need about 10 min for clean-up.it got stuck many times and after a while it gets really heavy to carried around.I like the mulching, because it about 5bags into just 1. But with more power would be much better.

Sucks up leaves and debris really well, and the wheels support the unit well over a sidewalk or smooth lawn. If a large particle get sucked up, it will pause the motor and you have to wait a few seconds for it to continue. It makes the chore of light leaf pickup a lot less work! It does drain the battery within 15-20 min though on the highest setting.

It works well at vacuuming leaves but the bag mechanism is very poorly designed and troublesome at times. It is difficult to attach the mouth of the bag to the vacuum and falls off if not placed correctly. Also the hook used to hold the body of the bag to the machine is virtually useless as it falls of with any significant volume of leaves in the bag.
