RYOBI introduces the SDS+ Rotary Hammer Drill. The RYOBI SDS+ Rotary Hammer Drill features a powerful 6.5 Amp motor for high performance. Quickly change between applications with the tri-mode selector, which allows the user to choose between drill, hammer, and hammer drill modes. The SDS+ chuck provides strong bit retention, tool-free bit changes, and durability. Match the drill speed to the application with the variable speed trigger, and set the lock-on trigger for continuous use. The internal safety clutch minimizes high torque reactions if the bit jams. Backed by the RYOBI 3-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty, the SDS+ Rotary Hammer Drill includes an auxiliary handle, a depth gauge, and an operator’s manual.

Did a great job removing tile from cement bed. Would have taken hours to do it by hand.

It is a very useful tool. I chose a reliable brand and very happy with my decision.

I was doing some work on my foundation and I need to drill some 4″ deep 3/8″ holes. I was initially looking for a hammer drill and then I found this Ryobi SDS Rotary hammer which is in the same price range. It works very well for me. Each holes took 20 seconds flat and it’s easy to use. It also comes with 3 SDS drill bits, a SDS chisel bit and a chuck to use regular drill bits. Haven’t try using the hammer only action to take out tiles yet, so I can’t comment on that. I am very happy with it so far.

I’ve only had this drill for a few days but I’ve drilled over 400 holes to hold down a basement sub-floor with tapcons and have used the chisel for about 4 hours straight with no problems at all. Contrary to what the previous reviewer stated, I did not find this drill to be slow at all – in fact it is probably just as fast as my old Bosch Rotary that finally gave it up after 15 years of abuse. I don’t expect it to endure the torture I put my old drill though but I’ve been surprised before. For the price, I just don’t see how you can go wrong and if you just the occasional home user, it will probably last for many, many years.

Used this to drill through a large limestone rock that I discovered while trying to plant some trees in Central Texas. Used it and a 1″x18″ SDS+ bit to drill holes and filled with Dexpan as a demolition agent. Worked very well, very satisfied.

Quite solid for small house works. But not close to my previous Makita.

Another Ryobi tool that is robust, powerful, has features like the rotary function selector and the key to lock it in the “on” position, all of which make it a pleasure to use. The warranty of three years is better than the competition and the Ryobi customer service, from prior experience, is absolutely beyond expectations. They go out of their way to make it right. The only question is, how do they do it at these prices? Terrific Value!

Absolutely love SDS hammers and love this one as well. Had some electrical work that needed to be done and needed to power through a ton of masonry and didn’t want to spend a lot of money for a tool I wasn’t going to use all of the time. Went out and bought this one and it worked wonderfully. Super light and runs great. Speeds right through the bricks and made my job simple and fast. Thanks ryobi!

Incredible drill and even better value. You will need to buy drill bits to fit this as they use SDS+ bits instead of standard drill bits, which to most people is not obvious, but you can buy SDS+ kit for $20 to get through concrete and other heavy duty materials.

Excellent Tool

This will definitely will more that do the job. I have an old garage foundation that I am removing I can do it much cheaper by myself than having an outside contractor come do it. 🙂

I use Ryobi power tools all the time, mostly cordless. I also use Hilti hammer drills, but don’t own one (excellent quality, but more expensive). When I saw this hammer drill (on sale for $109) I grabbed it!. Compared to other hammer drills around the same price (MasterCraft, Bosch), this beat them by a long shot. It comes in a hard case, with three regular SDS bits and one large chisel bit, which all have their own places in the case. PLUS, there is an attachment if you don’t have an SDS bit, you can use a regular 1/2″ bit. An amazing price for all these things. Even though I have not used this yet, it comes with a 2 year warranty. But with my experience with other Ryobi products, I’m confident this one will outlast me and do the job. Ryobi isn’t always the fanciest, but they seem to make a quality product.

The fool who built my 60-year-old home used brick, stone rubble, and ineptly poured concrete to complete the basement wall around and below the side door. Ants had managed to work at this mess and migrate through into my basement.Solution — either work for an eternity with a hammer and chisel, rent a demolition hammer, or buy something. There are several rotary hammers out there but not all have the option of just the hammer action. In shopping around I found that the next cheapest option to this Ryobi rotary hammer was double the price. It took seven or eight hours over the course of two days for me to chisel out about one a half square feet of brick and weak concrete at both corners under the door (three square feet in total) to a depth of several inches. I poured new concrete and can only hope the ants can’t find another entry point to invade.Having also drilled a few small holes in concrete with this tool I found it was a bit slow compared with a hammer drill that I rented once upon a time but that tool probably cost four times what this one does.I found the grip was a little uncomfortable with extended use and the lock-on button would be easier to take advantage of if it were a bit larger and therefore easier to get at.The tool came with a SDS 3/4″ flat chisel (of which I made good use) and three SDS drill bits (1/4, 5/16, and 3/8″.) I was relieved to see that it also came with a keyless chuck adapter so that all my old masonry bits could still be used. All this stuff fits into a molded plastic case.Having just purchased this item and used it only a few times I don’t know if it will last but you get what you pay for and so far I am well satisfied.

Powerful little guy. Not too heavy, but powerful for its size. Perfect addition to my collection
