RYOBI introduces the 7-1/4 in. Compound Miter Saw. This saw is compact and lightweight, making it portable and perfect for DIY jobs around the house. The heavy duty 9 Amp motor delivers up to 5,100 RPM for the power to make difficult cuts or a variety of small cuts in wood. It features a 1-1/4 in. dust port to help keep your work area clean. The 24-tooth Carbide-Tipped blade provides improved performance for fast, clean cuts on boards as large as 2 in. X 4 in. with a 4-1/4 in. cross cut capacity. Backed by the RYOBI 3-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty, the 7-1/4 in. Compound Miter Saw includes a 24-tooth Carbide Tipped Blade, a blade wrench, a dust bag, a work clamp, and an operator’s manual.

Someone, in designing this tool, overlooked the probablillity that a hobbyist might want to change the blade. If I had 3 hands I might be successful in doing it, but….The spindle lock button should have the capability of holding the blade while it is being removed. (I realize that this may be a safety factor) In spite of this, the hex key is insufficient for releasing a tight spindle bolt. At least, a hex head on the bolt might make it a possibillity. I have not yet been able to remove the blade to replace it for one with more teeth. But it’s great for cutting two-by fours !

Years ago I bought a cheap Ryobi battery-power miter saw to use for fine work like picture frames, baseboards and mouldings. It worked great, much to my surprise. This one isn’t battery-powered, but it has even better fit and finish than their older models. Even comes with a blade. The manual is readable and assembly of the few additional parts is straightforward. I wouldn’t build a deck with this but it makes an excellent second miter saw for smaller work. Cuts are more precise than I expected and the detents are solid. I’m glad to have a second miter saw again for these jobs. Recommended, especially for the price.
