Fast and largest NVME available.

I purchased this along with a high performance laptop. The laptop could not be specced with a drive this large, even though it could support such a size. so I ordered the smallest size and this one to use as an upgrade. I ran benchmark tests before and after, and this drive scored considerably higher than the unit that shipped with the computer. No drama; was immediately recognized by the computer.

What can I say! WOW! Fast and so much space! Runs cool in my ASUS X299 Prime II MB. I’m this using as the main drive for a documentary that was shot on the RED EPIC Dragon @ 4K, 5K, & 6K. I just started post so I will update how it holds up to this heavy task ahead. But so far playback at 6K full resolution is smooth. Temps topped out at 44c (drive E:) after a 200GB dump from a RED MINI-MAG, cooled right down to 27C normal temp.

Worked well in my Mac Mini M1 using a QWC Envoy thunderbolt enclosure. Transferred over 1.5 TB to it and it was pretty fast writing all that data. However, it got super hot doing so. Nothing that a few ice cubes it two plastic bags couldn’t handle. Completed before the ice had a chance to melt. On the downside, Apple/Mac is not supported, none of the software including the one for firmware updates is provided for Apple systems. Which is why they lose 2 stars.

I purchased this as an upgrade to the included SSD on a newly purchased mobile workstation that I purchased from B&H at the same time. Installation was straightforward, and it worked immediately. I assume the real-world speed is limited by heat, and this does not appear to be running anywhere near the advertised maximum read and write speeds. However, this installation does not have the same heat sink capabilities of, say, a gaming computer.
