After the cache is full (2tb on a 8tb drive) the speed drops to 100MB/s. I shoot video and wanted to save time backing up our cfast cards in the evening, but after the the first two terrabyte the speed drops so low that i can’t even copy everything until the next morning when we need the empty cards again. 3k down the drain…

I bought this as temporary storage to transfer and re-oganize large multi-terabyte virtual machines with minimal downtime. Unfortunately, the drive crawls to basically HDD speed (~150MB/sec) after about ~1.5TB of writes. I’ve read this is a limitation of the underlying caching technology, so buyer beware. Also runs very hot. Given my application, I should have just bought two cheaper 4TB drives, some Flegling cases (include fan), and setup RAID 0 at a lower cost. After a very negative experience with Sabrent customer support in the past I vowed to never buy their products again, but here I did, and I continue to be disappointed.

Love this hard drive. It’s tiny. It’s fast. Mac users, check the formatting first!

I only get 1050mbps at best. The Sandisk Extreme is way better.

I initially purchase the SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD (2,000MB) but, the SanDisk cannot achieve the advertised speeds (900-1000 MB max). I was reluctant to find a SSD with read/write speeds more than 1000 MB and I seen some positive reviews for the Sabrent Rocket XTRM and I was surprised after texting the drive that I was getting read/write speeds greater than 2000 MB consistently. This drive is priced very well to compete with other external SSD’s and an alternative to paying upwards of $400 per TB of Internal SSD configured with any modern Apple MacBook especially the M1 SOC. This drive comes with two (Type A to C & Type C/TB3 to C/TB3 that are well made and sturdy. You also receive a protective rubber shell that protects the drive from dust and dings. I will update to share my long term use experience.

This SSD is amazing! Small, easy to carry in your bag with your laptop, and super fast! I never want to be without it again! It does get warm when transferring many TB’s of data at once, but not warm enough to cause great concern. The bottom line is that it’s a true winner!

I’m a little disappointed. The speed of other similar types of SSDs is about 2400M. This is about 1700M. I don’t feel any benefit other than capacity.

Very small, innocuous footprint. Can’t stand the look of most of these things, like ugly 80’s boom boxes. Unexpectedly came with a rubbery shock absorber cover for safety on the go. Fast. Will get another.
