I bought this as a pet gate. The pressure mounting only works if your surfaces are flush – I’ve had to put shims between my doors to get the gate to hold tight. Would not advise as a child gate because it can easily be pushed out of the doorway but it meets my needs. I like the materials and think this would work great with an attachment that actually could be hooked into a doorway frame for sturdiness.

When you have white woodwork as I have this gate will leave black marks when you lock it in place but it will stay put. Some touchup paint will take care of the black marks when you are done using the gate.

I got a new puppy for the holidays and needed a barrier to keep him in certain rooms so I bought 2 of these gates. Not wanting a permanent fixture leaving holes once removed I got these. The rubber stoppers work great and with the expandable width it will fit many sizes of door openings. I’m very happy and highly recommend this product for blocking small pets or a child.

Works well. Though, if the size you need is between two pegs, you’ll be forced to use the larger one which seems to strain the whole thing and push the actual bars up against the door frame which might wear it down in the long run.
