We have been looking for a gate that works on our staircase at the bottom of our basement stairs. We use our basement as the play room, and we’ve had a hard time finding something that works to keep our 11 month old out, but our 2.5 year old in. When we found this gate, we were extremely happy that as soon as we opened it, we saw it was different than other gates we tried. It was easy to install (to long thin plates that attach to the wall on each side) and it expanded to the width that we needed. The handle is tricky enough that our toddler can’t open it, but if we leave it unlocked and open, he can go up and down without tripping on the base. We have tried a few others and he would fall over the bottom piece when trying to go up and down. It’s extremely sturdy and supported both my 2.5 year old trying to mess with it (haha) and my 11 month old pulling himself up on it. I am extremely happy with this product and will be purchasing another for our upper staircase as well!

We live in a split level house so the the area we hang out in is at the top of the stairs and with this gate it is screwed into the wall so when my son hangs on it I KNOW it will not go down with him. It also has double locks which is nice.

We love this gate! We installed it for our 19 month old and it does the trick! Keeps him safe and us worry free!

Very easy to use and install. My son hasn’t figured out how to open it yet, so that’s a major plus.

I was nervous with my kitchen being easily accessible to my 9 month old crawler and partial walker. This gate is fantastic! It fits right in my kitchen doorway and it keeps the baby out. I was nervous that it wouldn’t stay up because we are renting I didn’t want to drill holes. NON NEEDED. Easy instal and its flat so easy to store when not in use. This should be on every baby registry!

Its ease of setup and functionality is what sold me this for the top of my steps. Only problem is the hinge mounting did not stand up to my 2 year old. Broke under a year. The plastic around the rivet’s pulled apart. which leads me to believe not enough testing was done inhouse. Enough force will pull the gate apart. Luckly I had a spare from the bottom steps which I removed, but def make sure the gates are shut all the time because they are weak against little toddlers.

This is a simple looking, sturdy gate that is effective at keeping little crawlers from ascending the steps unsupervised. I didn’t love that I had to use a screw into my drywall- this is fine if I can patch and paint over it but I wasn’t able to use the gate where I originally intended to because I wasn’t willing to screw a hole into my wood bannister leading to the stairs. I realize that securing the gate with a screw is probably the safest option- it is a hard option. Gate was preassembled and ready to go- way less fuss than other gates I use.

Our 1-year-old loves walking around the house and trying to go up and down every step constantly. We have a permanent metal gate at the top of the stairs, but were using a wooden fold-up gate at the bottom. It worked while he was crawling, but once he started walking he figured out how to pull it down easily no matter what MacGyver techniques we tried to attach it to the stairwell. This Everywhere Gate was the perfect solution. It is extremely sturdy and the neutral color helps it blend well with any decor. We can open and close it easily, but it is strong enough to withstand all toddler attempts to get through. Hooray for no more stress at the base of the stairs!

So this seems like an awesome gate. I absolutely love the concept of just placing it and attaching it, other manufacturers should be on notice. I also love the fact that it attaches ABOVE base and molding. The only things I have to say is that 1: when you follow all the directions in order, which are super easy, the gate, mine, doesn’t match up with the jamb. There is a little sag in the gate so in order to get it to latch you have to lift up. I’ll be dropping the latch side to match, which will put visible holes in my wall that I’ll need to fill and paint. I think it would help if there was at least some sort of adjustment up and down, maybe with a screw, 2: that the wing that swings out to prevent it from swinging over the stairs is super easy to move, like a kid could do it accidentally. I’ll be adding a set screw to this part so it won’t be possible, and 3: it’s minor but some trim that snaps onto cover the screws would be nice. Even with these issues tho I won’t be returning it as I think in the future I can mitigate these problems and overall they are minor compared to the ease of installation and quality. I’ll prob need four more.

We are grandparents and this gate is fantastic for us. We have the safety we need – when we need it and we can lift and remove the gate when not required for long periods. It is sleek, sturdy, light weight and we love the grey colour! We are fans of most every Safety 1st product, we have many. Thank you for making quality products with common sense features that are stylish!

I love that there was no threshold to step over.

Affordable, simple instructions, easy to install, and sturdy gate. Anchors into the wall with screws though, so must ensure permanent location verses flexibility to relocate as child grows.

Very easy to use and set up. We have a 19 month old and needed something a bit more sturdy for the stairway. It opens and closes great for us yet keeps her from opening it (even though she tries everyday ) If you’re looking for a gate and are okay with having to screw it into the wall, I would suggest using this or something similar from this particular brand.

I placed this gate at the top of the stairs, right outside of my daughter’s play area and bedroom. Now that she’s on the move, the stairs were a huge concern for us! This gate was easy to install, and I trust that it will keep her safe.
