We recently moved to a house from an apartment. This home has a very open concept which makes baby proofing with baby gates difficult. We opted to install cabinet and drawer locks as well as used these appliance locks. These are a life saver as our son loved to open the fridge throughout the day. Now he cant which saves our food, increases our energy efficiency, and keeps our sanity intact. Definitely recommend!

The latch works pretty well and is a good price. My main problem is with the strap. Because of packaging, the strap is folded when brand new and doesn’t want to straighten out. When I installed it on our refrigerator, the memory of the fold causes the clasp to be closed in the door seal unless I intentionally straighten it out when closing the door. This is a little annoying because the door will not completely close if you just shut it. You have to pull the clasp out, even if you don’t want to lock the door at the moment.

Easy to install; keeps freezer door from popping open when refrigerator door closed. Works better than the previous refrigerator lock used (Safety 1st), which needed to be perfectly lined up or it would snap off the piece that held it shut (but it was more convenient than this design that needs to be snapped in place after opening the freezer).

This appliance strap from Safety first is a good idea if the right situation calls for it. If you have a child intent on getting into appliances (oven, washing machine, etc) it will definitely prevent that. However, I found that i could use this on only 1 appliance – my oven. All other appliances (dishwasher, top loading washer, refrigerator) either were not installed a way that I could attach this strap OR they weren’t needed. That being said, it was an easy install and fairly easy to use. Mildly annoying, perhaps, but most child safety items are 🙂 Overall, I would say, check your appliance to see if this can be used and go for it if you feel you need to prevent your child from breaking into an appliance. I received this safety first appliance strap at no cost in exchange for my honest review.

This is a nice locking system to keep small children out of the refrigerator. I highly recommend this for use if you have a child from the age of 1-4 maybe older if you have a trouble maker

My kids have this bad habit of getting into the fridge and eating everything in sight before it’s time to go shopping again. These are like seatbelts for the appliances! My kids can work them BUT if you put them up high enough, they can’t reach them. The peel and stick adhesive is super strong and it didn’t leave any residue on my appliances when peeled off. I don’t think there’s any way someone could break these. If you have a fridge-freezer side by side, I recommend putting the latch on the freezer and the strap on the door. I really wish I had found these sooner ☝☝ They’d work perfect for cabinets, toilets, dishwashers, etc…

We have 3 appliances that open from the front: oven, refrigerator, and dryer. Our oven has its own built in lock, so we tried to put these on the fridge and dryer. It works great for the dryer, but it didn’t stick to our fridge because the door curves a bit.

These appliance straps really bring peace of mind when you have toddlers who run around the house and are full of curiosity! For me personally, my little one is always opening the refrigerator and trying to climb inside to find a snack. Not only is this a hastle having to chase after him to close it and remove him, but it’s a safety hazard as well. With the safety strap, I don’t have to worry about him opening the door and climbing anymore! The lock is easy to install and operating without being a burden to use the refrigerator as we normally do.
