The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

The speeds are great, but this little thing makes the most obnoxious high-pitched whine. I’m not sure if I just have a bad apple here, I’ve never noticed that with my similar Samsung T4. I have it velcro strapped to the back of my monitor and that seems to be blocking the noise.

The Samsung T7 SSD is one of the best things I have ever purchased! It is very light (only 58 grams!) and fits in the palm of your hand. The metal exterior feels durable and storing my files is quick. (In the past, I could make a cup of coffee while I wait for my USB flash sticks to copy files. With this SSD, my files now transfer instantly from one device to the next.) The best aspect I love about this is that its accessibility across multiple platforms (Android/iOS/Windows). No more carrying around multiple cables and adapters to connect to different devices! It also comes with 2 short cables in the box (USB C to USB C & USB C to USB A) so you don’t have to buy these yourself. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and anyone else looking to buy a portable drive to store files in. The Samsung T7 SSD is reliable, durable, lightweight, and I would definitely buy it again!

I wish I knew about these a long time ago. After upgrading my editing system I was still having lag issues with large projects, and realized the write speeds to/from my external hard drives were woeful. I tried another brand SSD external and it ended up crashing my system repeatedly (extremely frustrating). These work effortlessly and flawlessly. Love em. Even 2TB drives fill up fast however, so what I’ve worked out for my process is I use the large external non-ssd drives for *storing* completed projects, and I use these drives for *completing* projects. I love the color options and this makes it super easy to keep track of different projects, i.e. project A is on the red drive, project B is on the blue drive and so on. Make more colors Samsung! Maybe an upsell/option to create a custom color? Much more classy/professional than stickers ha! My wish: make this same unit in 4TB and/or larger capacities, they would be worth the cost. Thank you Samsung for these fantastic drives!

I’m sure in the near future these will seem slow but for now these are very fast portable drives. I can edit 4K ProRes files with the without any lag at full res. I bought several of these for my z-cam and BMPCC and then I can edit directly. Love these.

Bought this for school work. Fast enough that you can’t notice anything really. Also, super simple for windows to Mac: comes formatted as exFAT though if you need something different that reformatting is easy. I’m much more efficient now.

The Samsung T7 1TB is a very attractive product right out of the box. It is very slim, light weight and dimensions are almost the size of a credit card. It has a light weight aluminum case, the grey color looks very premium and the SSD feels sturdy in the hand. It is very helpful that the SSD comes with 2 cables : USB type C-C and type C-A. Due to those cables, I was able to connect to my Windows laptop, MacBook Air and my Samsung Note 10+. The set up was super easy, connectivity was super fast and the laptops/ phone recognized my SSD instantly. I had to download the Samsung SSD magician software . The software helps to optimize the use of the SSD. It can detect potential failures and correct them in advance. It also provides an overall view of the health of the device including storage and temperature controls. The SSD is noiseless when its connected to the laptop. It has a blue led light that indicates that its connected to your device. Even though the devices recognized my SSD instantly, the SSD app was not able to connect to either the phone or the tablet. I tried multiple times but the app still does not recognize the devices. I think Samsung will have to update the app to fix this problem. However, I was able to copy/paste and drag/drop photos, music, videos etc of all sizes into the SSD and they took just seconds to get transferred. The T7 SSD thermal control was great even after weeks of use. The T7 SSD remained cool and never felt warm even after continuous use Or while transferring large videos. The T7 SSD always felt like an integral part of the devices it was connected to. Overall a highly efficient, reliable and durable SSD that does exactly what its meant for……store data securely!

It is what I need. It is reliable while copying information to it. Password protected for sensitive files. Works great with any PC. It is not the best with phones though.

I love Samsung T-series of SSD. They have a small footprint and fast speed for any transfer. I already have a T5 and having the much faster T7 is great with how large files become these days.
