The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

When I bought an iMac 27 ,I didn’t worry about paying extra for HD storage because I cI figured I can always get an external. All of my drives are Lacie and WD, but I decided to try out a Samsung Solid State Drive drive for new tech; moving away from spinning drives and mechanical parts. I got it for a good price during Cyber week. I’m using it as storage for my desktop. I only had it for a month, and I hope it continues to be fast, reliable. Encryption is an added plus if I travel with it

I have used over ten of these (from the T5 and now T7 series) over the past few years, working in day-to-day video editing for TV & web. Full size files, massive file transfers, etc. These drives are fast, reliable, and discreet. Gone are the days of a having a tower of big silver metal drives stacked on your desk. NOW, if they would just have a second USB-C port for daisy-chaining… well, my life would be complete.

Like the title says it’s pretty fast. I cannot, however, get it any where near as fast as is claimed in the advertising. It’s not my computer, which sports thunderbolt 3 ports. It’s fast enough, so I didn’t return it.

I bought 2 of the 1 TB units, one for me and the other for my wife. They just sit there, perform, quietly with no noise or vibration. Setting up for Mac required reformatting which was easy to do. I also bought 2 of the 2 TB for backing up, which also perform very nicely. I love the fact they have no moving parts, and are very small, the size of a thick credit card. And they came with both USB and USB-C cables.

The M7 works great. I use it for Audio recording. It was easy to format the drive and heat has not been an issue with it running a bunch of tracks and plug ins.

I love the size and performance of this external hard drive but it gets really hot. I have had no issues with the drive but I get concerned when any electronic device gets hot during use. I read on another company’s website that the T-5 does not get as hot. I back up my photo files on at least two drives and will be buying another drive around April. If this issue isn’t addressed by Samsung, I will order a T-5 instead of the T-7.

While it was a bit tricky to set up at first and making it stay connected to the computer after putting it in sleep mode, this thing has reliably played VR games and high resolution games with little to no hiccups. If I had another USB-C port, I would have definitely ordered another one to further increase my available space, freeing up my D drive.
