The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

I’m sure this is a great SSD for general computers, but this is not for cameras. If you were planning on getting this for your Blackmagic Pocket, DO NOT! I initially thought there was something wrong with my camera because it would only record for a second or flash a warning sign without recording anything, but its the external drive. The T5 version of these actually run on the BMPCC. Your camera isn’t broken it’s the T7 version of these drives

When I started in video, I spent $2500 on a 2 GB RAID with 2 1GB drives- and a huge fan. This is exponentially bigger, faster and cheaper. The size is perfect- and the construction solid. Twice as fast as a T5 this is your best option for any $K and above shooting- we also use it with our Blackmagic Design ATEM ISO to record multiple streams.

This small ssd drive seems to be a very good, very fast and a very small unit. I have used it for a critical back up successfully. However, the cable supplied with USB-C connectors at both ends is defective and only intermittently works, or at times not at all. I have tested it on other drives with similar results. Sorry Samsung, but I wasted a lot of time because of this cable.

In purchasing this item, there are no directions added to show how to properly operate the device, the one that I purchased locked itself and I had to send it back to Samsung to get them to reset the drive. Proper operating instructions could have possibly helped prevent this from happening.

The speed makes it worth the price. I haven’t had any glitches using this drive. It seems to heat up quite a bit and I don’t know if that’s normal, but I would buy one again.

This is my fifth Samsung T-series SSD. Clearly I like them. Every generation comes with a welcome speed improvement and minor design change. I have two T3’s which are about the original, 450 Mbps, USB C and design wise had a rubber section. I also have two T5’s which are the faster at 540 Mbps and are all metal but the same dimensions. The new T7 is the fastest at 1000 Mbps, but even though it looks similar to the T5 in all metal its slightly thinner and longer. This is slightly annoying because I’m so used to the dimensions of the other ones and just looking at product photos I couldn’t tell. Doesn’t affect performance, just have to modify physical storage space and attachments to my devices. Speed wise seems great. I use it for external multicam 4K editing in FCP X.
