The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

The Samsung T7 and before the T7, the T5, is a wonderful SSD for travel or if you need small portable drive. It is very durable and fast. On my old Mac Pro (2013) model, connect via USB 3.0, the T7 has upload and download speeds of 350 Mb/Sec according to Blackmagic disk speed test (I am not a professional tester so take this as a single observation). I only wish that there was a 4TB version of this drive when I purchased it.

Works great on my newer 64 bit / i7 core laptop. But doesn’t work on my older 32 bit / i5 core laptop. That’s not a problem for me because I bought it for use with newer machine. It might be for you. My advise if you have an older machine to buy the T5 version instead of the T7. H Philip

My Samsung Portable SSD T7 intermittently disconnects during use. I am connected to a USB C SS port. Drive is very fast when operating but the disconnects are annoying.

There are A lot of different options to choose from when it comes to portable storage. Samsung has always been strong in this area and that is one of the reasons why I trusted this portable drive. Right out of the box it has a clean and quality look. It’s simple and elegant. The packaging is straightforward and it comes with two different cables. I really enjoy the blue aluminum look and the feel of it. Now getting into the performance side of things it’s fast! I’ve owned a few different external drives as well as thumb drives and have experienced delays when transferring large files. I had my doubts so I put this little guy to test. I was able to transfer roughly 50 GB of data to the hard drive in about 15 minutes. Now I wasn’t using a USB three connection on my computer as it is a little bit older I was also transferring from another extra hard drive. That speed impressed me given the circumstances. Transferring files right from my computer to the hard drive was seem less. They transferred in almost no time. I do a lot of presentations for my workplace and this has come in handy to have on the go and throw in my bag. The compact size makes a total difference. It’s a little bit bigger than a business card in about as thick as a candy bar. I was able to store movies photos presentations and documentations all with ease. I trust Samsung to keep a lot of my personal documents backed up on the drive. The software was a breeze to install on the computer and it even comes with an app for any mobile devices. When it comes down to speed reliability design and quality Samsung did not cut corners with these drives.

I’m using it on a Zcam rig. It is a great solution for recording at fast rates and for cheap. Not only that, but you can 100% edit Prores right within these drives and avoid loading your pc with tons of data.

I haven’t needed a new external hard drive for a few years, and my goodness they’ve progressed. The physical size, storage for the price, read/write speed and ease of set up are all amazing. It’s more than fast enough to work directly off of, as well as handling large file dumps as I back up my SD cards. Easy compatibility with Mac or Windows and the optional password protection are useful bonuses. When I need more storage, I won’t hesitate to get another.
