The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

Since my initial purchase, I’ve decided to only use the Samsung brand for external SSD storage.

Fast reliable, quick. Fixing to buy another as soon as possible.

The read/write speed is good for video editing in Premiere Pro 2020, and compositing in After Effects 2020. Also this guy is faster than T5. (Make sure your programs cache files are on the other drive, as always recommended.) Also can compete with internal NVMe SSDs in the same segment. Also high speed make it possible to connect, say, to BMPCC and Sony A7iii via USB-C. So, instead of copying files, you’re able to record videos and edit them from one place.

I use this to back up my files on my computer and store my previous school work, it transfers files quickly and is very simplistic and easy to use. It’s also very slim and easy to store away. Features are minimal, which is good because I don’t require a lot of security at the moment.

It is small, portable, and fast. I use it to regularly transfer files over 100 gb and it is fantastic.

Not much more to say than I’ve never had them crash and the mounting times and transfer speeds are outstanding. Best I’ve used for portable drives.

I’ve always had fine results with Samsung USB drives of all sizes. From small, years ago, to 2 terabytes today. The companion hard case is a must for the $10 cost.

In a very small size but with the required accessories, I found the speed of this portable SSD HD very hight

I use this to store photos and important files. Transfer of huge gb files just takes seconds to complete. I use it to transfer large files from my iPad Pro to my Samsung s10 now that I got it instead of using cloud storage.

This ssd works great to house many of my photos

I purchased a set of these to go along with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k cameras. I already had a set of T5’s, though I was in the market for a couple more, and read the specs of this drive and was floored. When they came in I put one in the holder on my camera (note: these are not the same form factor as the T5s) with the help of a little bit of cardboard and plugged it in. Booted up just fine, but when I pushed the record button, no matter the transfer rate from my camera, the camera stopped recording after only a few seconds. After reading through some forums I found out that this drive has a very fast buffer that lets you push a small amount of data in very quickly, but the underlying drive isn’t all that fast and the drive couldn’t clear the buffer fast enough for a constant video flow. I’ve heard it does very well at pictures, though.

I bought this to help with my storage on my galaxy S22 Ultra. I have the 512. But need it a portable drive to hold some pictures. Amazing drive works perfectly.

This is a great little drive. Small, easy to carry and super fast. 2TB is that sweet spot between size and price that is working great for me.
Janice Kihn (verified owner) –
Solid build and excellent performance. It outperforms all my other external drives on speed and versatility. No reformatting needed due to it’s wide compatibility and can easily transfer large media files between my iOS and Android devices, Windows and Mac computers.

I use this T7 (500GB, 1 TB) for image file and catalog storage in Lightroom Classic with the USB-C or USB-3 cables, depending on my computer. The solid metal enclosure, quality cable and super-reliable electronics make this an excellent choice when shooting with a laptop or moving the drive between different PCs. I frequently clone/sync to a backup drive. While I am a big fan of cloud storage, my LR-Classic database is so large that a local storage-plus-backup is my preferred way of working. And it is speedier. Especially with the USB-C connection on a modern laptop, the speed is almost indistinguishable from an internal SSD drive. The T7 is faster than the T5, and faster than older portable SSD drives. If you use a Windows PC, be sure to format this T7 as NTFS because it is a faster and more reliable file system than the drive was formatted with in the factory.

Small and light. Much cheaper then Apple upgrade cost for more storage. Just not built in.

This ssd will record no problem raw footage from a Cinema Pocket 4k and a Zcam E2 4K. Which is not a surprise since these cameras can work with the older T5. When it shines compared to that one, though, is when it comes to editing timelines directly from the SSD (with multiple timelines). You can have three clips, 4K, Prores/Braw/Prores Raw in parallel in your timeline and they will play no problem from this SSD (and you can probably have more – I didn’t stressed it with more parallel clips).

I have 4 of these in my portable studio kit to edit and create programming wherever I go. I can edit multiple streams of 4K video real time with no hiccups when incorporated with my M1 MacBook Air. They are lightweight yet solidly built and run cool and efficiently. I rarely pass up the opportunity to purchase these, especially when they are offered on a B&H deal.
