The Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it’s also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable. The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates. The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher.

As a video creator I have extremely large files and speed requirements to not only load files but also to render cache during editing. I have a large grove of video and audio effects that most be searchable and fast. My 2 SSD are always there.

I’m a gamer. I’d been wanting a reliable external SSD so I could have increased flexibility with games, sometimes I use different platform, or visit a friend. This SSD is substantially smaller than my phone or wallet making it extremely easy to transport. I love it’s small physical size and it’s large storage size, but my favorite feature is how fast it is. It’s faster than some internal SSDs making it much better for games. It decreases load times and increases gameplay. I love it!

I am a Wildlife photographer so I try to travel in search of photographic opportunities. For me its very important to take a couple of reliable and small easy to transport SSD. In the past I used Samsung T5 SSD and I never had any problem, I used them for storing lots of RAW pictures and even for editing 4K videos in Final Cut Pro. Now I have a couple o Samsung T7s and they are incredible, much faster than the T5 so I am very happy with this SSD.

Great SSD by one of the leaders in SSD tech. It’s faster than most others which has made it great for my video projects. It’s also nicely compact so it’s easy to slip into a pocket, backpack, or strap on a camera for direct recording. Now I just need a bigger one!

In every aspect this drive works as expected and is a solid choice for an external/mobile ssd. There is one issue that seems to have a fix that worked for me at least. On both the T7 (and the T5) the drive would randomly disconnect with an error. After a couple days of internet searches a recommendation was to download & the “Samsung Portable SSD Software” directly from Samsungs website instead of using the software provided on the hard drive. (It’s the same app and I don’t understand why this would make a difference other than the one factory pre-loaded may be out of date). After using the software to perform an update, both my T7 and T5 drives stopped disconnecting with an error… at least they haven’t for about a month now. Haha. Internet searches have shown other people with similar issues on both pc & Mac. I’m not tech savvy enough to explain exactly what it is but outside of this issue the drive works fast & seems reliable. It’s very solidly built, sleek, and small.
