I purchased this drive because I already owned another one and love the reliability of the drive. I use it mostly to play media via my VAVA projector and it performs flawlessly. Recommended!

I was able to write to this drive at about 350 MBps with USB-C! It also is very sleek and packs extremely well in any pocket. Aluminum case does a great job of transferring the heat away from the drive.

Got this to use as my working projects drive with my M1 Mac. It’s an SSD so it’s certainly faster than the ‘rugged’ La Cie it replaced. (you should replace your external drive every year or so, better to replace them before they start getting flaky, while you still have full access to the contents!) However I only get about 700mbps out of it, the internal storage on this laptop is about 5 times faster. So there is no benefit to using this as a scratch disc. It does work great to stick footage on instead of letting all that clutter up my system disk. I’m going to make proxies anyway, which will playback from the system disk then get trashed when I am finished. It does satisfy my two main requirements; bus powered faster than an HDD. It cost about the same as a La Cie HDD of the same capacity so a no brainer. It is also a LOT smaller and lighter than a spinning disk. I suspect it draws a lot less current as well, simply judging by the amount of heat given off under heavy use compared to an equivalent rotating disk. I would buy again. Just as an aside, I used to work in broadcast IT. La Cie ruggeds are nothing special. They look cool, but they have no real heat mitigation, they aren’t fast and they aren’t more rugged than other comparable drives. My advice, instead of sweating over which is the best drive for the buck. Just get one from a tier one manufacturer like Samsung for SSD or WD for spinning disks. And replace your external drives frequently!

This drive is very small, and so it makes a great backup drive for a laptop.

This is my third T5/T7 series drive that I purchased from B&H for photo storage. They work great, nearly as fast as built-in storage when used with the included USB-C cable. These drives also make great holiday gifts for friends who still back up on slow and bulky hard drives. Windows users should format the drive as NTFS for better performance and reliability.

I found the SSD is to setup and retrieve information from. Once you set it up you can virtually forget it. I use mine with an iMac and it preforms flawlessly. I highly recommend.

As a student, I love the size and simplicity of the product. It’s so easy to keep it being so handy. For this small size, with a big storage, I believe I’m set to utilize this tool for my school needs. Great product! I transferred about 1,800 GoPro photos from my Macbook and the portable SSD T7 remained at optimal temperature. So far so good at this point! Great addition for my Macbook! Ok so if you need to off load work from a camera card or just transfer some files for production work you need one of these. I was skeptical as I have used just about every drive in the field for camera and production work. When a post house send me one of these to off load some work on to I thought it was just another drive. When I saw how fast it transferred I bought one that same day. I work in natural history and documentary work and use a RED Cinema camera so its not uncommon to have to off load mags or Cards from the camera a couple times a day to keep productions working. These are an amazing little drive to help with that.

SSD has been reliable for me in car, although the power consumption is sometimes too much for my Raspberry Pi 4 and can cause issues.

And the price was right. Replaces tired moving parts model. Pleasingly Ipod small.
