The Samsung EVO is so thin and light, it takes virtually no power and is perfect for a compact build. I have a couple of Intel NUC units that have this drive. Speed on read/writes is super.

I could not believe my eyes after installing this into my few years old laptop. The original HDD was slow but I did not know how slow it was until I installed this SSD. The performance was better than night and day. I figured it would be a good upgrade but now the laptop performs like a new generation laptop. I could not be happier.

Purchased this SSD about 3 months ago to replace a flaky ADATA SSD. Since then my PC has ran flawlessly. Samsung EVO is the best.

The drive is working great so far. I finally have room to keep most of my Steam library ready to play on an SSD! Hopefully B&H doesn’t have the review switcheroos that Amazon does, but here’s the product I ordered: Samsung 1TB 870 EVO SATA III 2.5 Internal SSD.

Over the last few years, I have purchased multiple Samsung EVO SSDs. They have never disappointed me. As for my headline, there is another brand I have also purchased several over the last few years. My choice between the two depends partly on the intended application and price. The costs of Samsung are higher, sometimes not much higher, so I purchase these Samsung drives when the price differential is small, and when the intended use calls for more robust specs. Keep in mind that the other brand has very good specs, it is that the Samsung have better specs, especially in that the expected total writes and reads of the drive are significantly higher. Read/write speeds are marginally better. In those situations where price is not an issue, I go with one of the Samsung EVO drives.

Over many years of trying various brands of SSDs, and dozens of Samsung SSDs, I have NEVER had to replace a Samsung SSD. They are my go-to brand for performance and reliability. They never disappoint!

I now have about 8 of these I use to backup and store remotely my large inventory of photo images by rotating them as new images require. I use these in an OWC TB2 Drive Dock for easy copying onto them. Would I order more someday? You bet. These ar top notch, high quality SSD. Did I mention fast for my needs.

Drive installed and fired up just fine. Dual loaded MacOS 10.15.7 and Windows 10 Home. Both loading fine, and SSD performance seems satisfactory here.

I’ve installed lots of SSD drives over the past few years and my go to brands are Samsung, WD and Intel (in that order). I’ve yet to have a Samsung SSD drive fail on me and they almost always perform very close to what the specs say or better. The Samsung Magician software is pretty light on resources and helps you tune the system, benchmark the drive and update the firmware, if there are any updates. If I can find them on sale, I almost get the Samsung first. They are usually priced a little higher than some competitors, but they are outstanding, in my humble opinion.

Wanted to get a new, larger SSD for my laptop to replace a 10yo Samsung PM830 which has been an amazing drive with 9yrs of on time & still has 80% health. However, Samsung wasn’t my first choice for replacement. I was looking for something cheaper but as I learned more & more, I realized you need to buy a reputable name brand drive. Quality & performance is very sporadic if you don’t. The price scared me away from Samsung to start. Again, the more I learned, I found you can get an EVO 870 1TB for about the same price as a budget brand, such as Adata. Only an extra $20 at this date, but you get so much more for that extra. The magician software is great. I’m absolutely amazed at my read/write speeds via SATAIII with the performance caching enabled. Wasn’t even aware I could achieve those speeds, refer to the included JPG. Without performance cache enable, I’m right at the advertised read/write speeds of 550/500. The only thing that sucks is never having access to the full capacity rating, but that’s a norm, then it you use over provisioning you lose even more. Other than that, this is the best SATA drive on the market. I even bought a second one as a backup. The only downside is that I came across tech forums discussing possible issues with these drives. Those issues regard early drive failure, where relatively new drives begin to show uncorrectable errors, ECC error rate, CRC error rate, reallocated sector count start to rise via CrystalDiskInfo. Then it just keeps getting worse & worse. The Samsung software also verifies this. However, it seems Samsung is willing to stand by their warranty & RMA the drives. I haven’t experienced any of those issues so far but will be keeping an eye on those statistics with CrystalDisk in case it does start to happen. This is definitely an issue that shouldn’t be happening with a name & price like Samsung, so hopefully they take care of the issue.

Used this SSD to update my system from Win7 to win10. Worked like a charm. System is now much faster and more reliable.

Replaced my ancient hard drive with this and since it was a Mac it was a painless experience copying the old drive to this ssd. Before installing the read/ write speed was 68 for both after the installation the read speed is over 400mps and the write speed is over 500mps.

We are using these for a ZFS raid in our VPS host machines and those have proven to be very reliable for our use case.

My adult Son, is constantly swapping new games in and out of his computer. A couple of the recent game’s would of filled his 1 TB SSD to over capacity. So this sale on the 2TB came at the right time. It Installed & connected flawlessly, Has work perfectly, and upgraded the capacity he needed to enjoy his gaming lifestyle. But what else would you expect from a Samsung SSD.
