I bought this to add some extra SSD storage to my PC. I bought an 850 EVO 500gb in 2018 and it was my first SSD in my personal desktop. About a year back, I needed another 1TB in space in the SSD format instead of an HDD — and this 870 was not only an amazing price but top tier. It is faster and better than the already-good 850 I had!!!

It was very easy to install, but did not come with a SATA cable and in order to install it I had to run to my local Best Buy to pick one up. My sales guy could have warned me about that so I would be ready.

I bought the ssd drive to separate my operating system from my games, and to speed up the load time for my games. It was very easy to install. I partitioned in half and have my Forza racing games on one half and my Truck driving games on the other. I love it. I think when I buy the second one, it will be for my operating system and I will replace my old HDD drive.

I migrated my hard drive with no problems using the Samsung migration software for my older i7 4 gen computer. It was remarkably faster than before. 5 stars on that part. However, after doing the migration and reassembly of the computer, I decided to use the Samsung Magician software to update of the firmware since the magician program said that I had newer firmware that could be updated. Magician seemed to have ran OK and shutdown the computer as it was supposed to do after the firmware load. HOWEVER, The computer would not boot after that. Luckily, I still had the original hard drive and nothing had changed since the migration. I was able to re do the migration again with the original hard drive. Was a pain in the neck but nothing was lost… So… be careful.. Maybe you can update the firmware BEFORE you do the migration… Not sure if it will be fixed by Samgung.

Been using the 870 evo 2tb ssd for a few months now and have had NO problems with it. Runs smoothly, no lag whatsoever, and setting it up is very easy. Compatible with a variety of PC specs and if you want to know everything that goes on with the ssd you must download the SAMSUNG MAGICIAN app. .I definitely feel like I made the right choice for my pc by picking this product.

I love Samsung drives, I got me three of ’em for my current build. I snapped off a star because maybe this was this drive, maybe it was the previous drive, I can’t tell (they all look alike) but during the installation, the L shaped section on the input port on one of the SATA plugs snapped off. Just great. I get the impression it’s mostly for saying which direction the plug should face, as the drives both still worked, but… As a note to Samsung, I love your drives, I want to continue to buy your drives. Maybe give a look at the structural engineering going into that section of your packaging and if your engineers say it needs stronger materials, give it to them instead of cheapening out. Having pieces of the product fall off is a bit of a cringe moment, you know what I mean? I’m keeping my drive and I’m sure I’ll love it, but just give that a look for improving your future stock.

Works great, is relatively easy to integrate mechanically into a desktop (may require a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to mount in the old HDD drive sockets), and the Data Migration tool makes cloning an existing boot drive a snap. System runs so much faster now.

The Samsung SSD installed flawlessly. The performance boost was awesome. The Samsung Data Migration Tool worked perfectly. The hard part was getting the back cover off my HP EVNY Laptop but YouTube came the the rescue.
