I usually buy Samsung 500gb ssds for my system drives as I only run my OS and do not need more than 500gb of space. (I use 4 NVMe M.2 ssds srtipped as RAID 0 for my video files) Last month I bought some off brand SSds for $10 less and had all sorts of issues with them.. My advice is to pay a bit more for the Samsung and feel confident that you have a quality drive.

This is my second Samsung drive, and the first 500MB. The first drive, bought years ago, was painfully expensive. While the price has gone up on this one, it is still so cheap that there is no reason to buy spinning platters in this size class. It transformed a pokey, Celeron laptop into a not pokey Celeron laptop. As an aside, it works with Linux.

I was using mechanical disks for my old NAS and they’re really loud if you place them in a close location to you. Bought it for the QNAP TS 253D as my backup NAS. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1569159-REG/qnap_ts_253d_4g_us_ts_253d_2_bay_desktop_nas.html All I can say is that it’s all quiet and fast around here. Also low temp. I think I’ll replace old NAS disks after back everything to the new one.

I expected Samsung to fill in all the thruput shortfalls of the 860EVO and max out/saturate the SATA bottleneck. I did not see this. If I had it would still have been hard to give it a 5 star because the price is so out of touch with the rest of the market. Come on Samsung… bring up your game. Still, I consider Samsung to be the best except for possible one other I haven’t bought and tested.

i bought 3 of these, two 500GB for laptops and one 1TB for my desktop. all went well using the samsung data migration software except for the i7 HP Pavilion 17t-by400 i bought in December of 2021. it refused to clone the EVO until i used Macrium Reflect 8 but the EVO still would not see any drive and refuse to load windows. i reinstalled the original drive and used the HP interface to update the BIOS but it still will not recognize any drives during boot, even the original drive now. after jumping through hoops all day i tried loading linux ubuntu from a thumb drive and it loaded first try. i’m not giving up this battle, just taking a break. i will eventually succeed.

These are the only SSD I buy. I use them for my RAID enclosures. Best option.

With more and more manufacturers pulling the bait and switch with ssd components, I try to stick with first tier vendors despite the increased cost. No issues here.

I had an ADATA SSD that I had to reinstall Windows 10 on three times. So I replaced it with a Samsung SSD. Months later: No issues at all.

I’ve purchased at least 5 of these in the past and used them on different computers. Never had one to fail so far.

I used for months on end and had no problems with it

I only gave 4 stars to Samsung SSD’s because their data transfer software doesn’t work on Apple computers, forcing me to find the necessary software elsewhere. Why? C’mon, Apple and Samsung, let’s be friends and make life easier for us poor users.

Updated to larger SDD and the migration was simple and the newer is faster,

Use it to install games. Fast and reliable. A bit expensive than other brands. But it is a good investment.

I need some more long term storage for some of my files, this SSD fits the bill perfectly. It is fast and has plenty of room for my files. I am actually considering purchasing another and imaging my boot drive to it! Highly recommend.

Already own 1TB SSD Samsung drives. These were for project. They have worked well, even capturing 4K video
