Replaced a HDD with this SSD. Easy to do with Sansumg migration tool. My laptop boots incredibly quicker now. Applications boot much quicker. Browser runs much faster now. If installing on a Windows machine i turned off virus software and disconnected from nerwork before running migration software.

Just as I had upgraded my PC from its original Intel 120GB SSD to a Samsung 860 250GB SSD, I was now upgrading again with a Samsung 870 EVO 500GB, primarily for its additional storage capacity. The Samsung 860 250GB was working flawlessly, so I stayed with Samsung. I migrated all of my data as I had in the past using AOMEI Backupper and Partition Assistant (both freeware), not Samsung’s Migration software that came with the SSD. I found that Samsung’s software would have been unable to clone all of the partitions including RECOVERY. Furthermore, after migration, the old drive would have been rendered useless. The AOMEI Partition Assistant software replicated the old drive and all its partitions exactly and left the old drive perfectly intact. I now have both the original 120GB and the 250GB SSD’s stored safely with Windows 7 Pro OS and all of the original software should I ever need them as a backup.

I had this art Drive installed in my late 2011 MacBook Pro and it’s like a new machine this is something I should’ve done along time ago great product highly recommend. I can even see a difference in all my software the machine boots up very quickly all software opens up extremely quickly.

I purchased the Samsung 1TB 870 to be a clone for my existing Samsung 1TB 860 EVO drive which has been working flawlessly, just so I could recover quickly if any type of failure should occur. However, I had to take a star off because the Samsung Data Migration software does not work as specified in the documentation. I am running up to date Windows 10 pro. After installing both the current 860 and the new 870, the Samsung Data Migration software recognized both drives correctly but would only create on partition on the new drive, not the three partitions (backup) required for Windows. The documentation clearly states it will support up to three partitions but the actual software would only allow one! You would think making a exact clone from one 1TB drive to another 1TB drive from the same manufacturer would be easy. Samsung needs to fix the software. I had to install a Linux kernel and clone the drive manually. The 870 is up and working perfectly with my 860 as a backup.

The Samsung drive is working amazing. The B&H support before purchasing was right on the money. The migration tool provided by Samsumg worked as advertised. I am learning more about Samsung Magician (SSD app for tuning) but so far it has been helpful. I did need a 2.5 to 3.5 mounting adaptor – cheap at $10. I did have to up my RAM from 8 to 16 GB to make everything run as new even though it is an older PC.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL DATA AND OPERATING PROGRAMS SAVED PRIOR AS THEY ARE REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION. WITH WIN 10 MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE OP SYSTEM SAVED PROPERLY AND THAT YOU HAVE 10 AND NOT SOME OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM ON YOU TUMB DRIVE.
