After 18 months, I’ve got 258 bad sectors. I got up today, thought something was awry with my PC. I was going to clone the Samsung to another branded SSD, and my computer started printing AAAAAA all over the screen. That was when I knew something was crazy. I did manage to get it cloned, although, it took forever, thanks to the bad sectors. After I got done cloning, I left the Samsung 870-EVO in place, and did the surface test. I could not believe my eyes. I probably would have left 3 stars, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out, how to send this into Samsung for warranty replacement. I has warranty until 2026, but how do I go about getting in to Samsung for replacement. I’m sure I need an RMA number. Any help would be great.

Replaced my ancient hard drive with this and since it was a Mac it was a painless experience copying the old drive to this ssd. Before installing the read/ write speed was 68 for both after the installation the read speed is over 400mps and the write speed is over 500mps.

Just installed the SSD on my PC and migrating all my data to this drive was effortless all thanks to the migration software provided by Samsung. Performance is as advertised and the installation process is straightforward as long as you have some knowledge about swapping drives.

A good balance of speed, size and cost for typical PC use. I needed a bit more space for a Steam library, so this will be a nice drop in expansion of disk space. It’s not as fast as an M2 style SSD, but the price reflects that, and it’s an easier drop in than replacing the M2 drive, what with OS reinstallation etc. This is the 3rd one I’ve bought, including other sizes, never had one fail yet.

Samsung is the best – made extreme difference over my 3.5 sata hard drive. Very fast boot & speds I never know I’d get with my i7 4790K cpu

Drive installed and fired up just fine. Dual loaded MacOS 10.15.7 and Windows 10 Home. Both loading fine, and SSD performance seems satisfactory here.

Wanted to get a new, larger SSD for my laptop to replace a 10yo Samsung PM830 which has been an amazing drive with 9yrs of on time & still has 80% health. However, Samsung wasn’t my first choice for replacement. I was looking for something cheaper but as I learned more & more, I realized you need to buy a reputable name brand drive. Quality & performance is very sporadic if you don’t. The price scared me away from Samsung to start. Again, the more I learned, I found you can get an EVO 870 1TB for about the same price as a budget brand, such as Adata. Only an extra $20 at this date, but you get so much more for that extra. The magician software is great. I’m absolutely amazed at my read/write speeds via SATAIII with the performance caching enabled. Wasn’t even aware I could achieve those speeds, refer to the included JPG. Without performance cache enable, I’m right at the advertised read/write speeds of 550/500. The only thing that sucks is never having access to the full capacity rating, but that’s a norm, then it you use over provisioning you lose even more. Other than that, this is the best SATA drive on the market. I even bought a second one as a backup. The only downside is that I came across tech forums discussing possible issues with these drives. Those issues regard early drive failure, where relatively new drives begin to show uncorrectable errors, ECC error rate, CRC error rate, reallocated sector count start to rise via CrystalDiskInfo. Then it just keeps getting worse & worse. The Samsung software also verifies this. However, it seems Samsung is willing to stand by their warranty & RMA the drives. I haven’t experienced any of those issues so far but will be keeping an eye on those statistics with CrystalDisk in case it does start to happen. This is definitely an issue that shouldn’t be happening with a name & price like Samsung, so hopefully they take care of the issue.

Works great, is relatively easy to integrate mechanically into a desktop (may require a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to mount in the old HDD drive sockets), and the Data Migration tool makes cloning an existing boot drive a snap. System runs so much faster now.

I purchased this some months ago and have had no performance issues. I use it to store my Steam library for quick access and fast loading times for my games. It has worked so well that I don’t even think about it, it just works. Great product!

The Samsung EVO 870 Sata drive will make you feel like you’ve purchased a new computer. Its remarkable speed will make you fall in love with your computer again. I have rejuvenated 3 laptops with Samsung EVO drives and have been more than satisfied with their performance ever since. I highly recommend the use of Samsung SSDs for any computer.

While not as fast as an NVME SSD, this drive is still more than fast enough for a boot drive.

I now have about 8 of these I use to backup and store remotely my large inventory of photo images by rotating them as new images require. I use these in an OWC TB2 Drive Dock for easy copying onto them. Would I order more someday? You bet. These ar top notch, high quality SSD. Did I mention fast for my needs.
