The Samsung 1TB 870 QVO 2.5″ SATA III Internal SSD is their 2nd generation QLC SSD for PC and laptop use. It has a 2.5″ form factor at 7 mm tall and utilizes the SATA III interface to achieve sequential read and write speeds of up to 560 and 530 Mb/s respectively. Additionally, it comes with Samsung Magician Software for drive health monitoring and updates, and is backed by a three-year warranty.

Also bought an external case, so I can still use the old drive for extra storage, but 2TB gives me plenty of room that I don’t have to figure out which external drive has the file I’m looking for.

I have two of these 8TB SSD’s in a CineRAID enclosure. Keeping 16TB of super high speed storage in my laptop bag is a revelation. The first 8TB storage unit I owned weighed over 200 lbs and required a fibre channel interface. When the price on these Samsung drives dropped recently, I bough two more. 32GB in the bag. If you are on the fence, get it.

This is a great price/performance ratio large SSD. Fits easily into a small box and formats in mere seconds under Windows 10. Very good data storage density. The only drawback is: it does not come with mounting screws, had to find some.

I’ve been using this drive for a couple of weeks. I’ve used ext4 (Linux), HFS+ unencrypted (macOS), and APFS encrypted (macOS) filesystems on it. I’ve loaded it about 3/4 full with various things, including virtual machines, media, games, backups, and some applications. It is *not* a PCI Gen4-based NVME SSD, so you cannot expect performance at that level. Depending on the test and filesystem, I am seeing the kind of performance you would expect from a drive maxing out the SATA III interface. It also does not seem to get hot. And, of course, it is silent. For reads, I’m regularly seeing at least 510MB/s. For writes, I am regularly seeing at least 420MB/s. And this is with file system encryption on for a couple of the partitions/volumes. Unless you need something greater than 8TB in a hard drive, you should really look at something like this. The price is still quite a bit higher than HDDs at these sizes, but at least at the 4TB level, I definitely find it worth the price differential.

This SSD made it so simple to do the tasks at hand. I was able to walk my daughter with minimal effort on the install into a MacBook Pro. After install, she was blown away on the performance increase. Load times and file transfers tripled. Compared to other brands that I have used the pricing is very competitive. and out of the box, this puppy screamed. we tested it in the mentioned Macbook a Rasberry pi and also in a desktop format. each application provided ample speed and ease. It is interesting how something so lightweight and small can alter the performance of these machines in such a manner. The actual storage of the device is astonishing as well. Now we have twice the storage we previously had and so much more speed. No more excuses for taking long on school assignments or even having to transfer photos and video files like before.

my husband installed this in my laptop and all I can say is WOW! I didn’t think it would make a huge difference but it really has. I figured it was another of his tech upgrades that wouldn’t really make much of difference to me but it has really breathed new life in my laptop. It starts up so much faster and I no longer have to wait for apps to open or even switching between apps. This is one technological upgrade that I would recommend to anyone. This is amazing and has really made a noticeable difference in an older laptop.

I used Samsung Migration software with this ssd connected with an adapter to a USB port, mounted the ssd, unplugged the hard disk drive and plugged in the ssd, and the computer started flawlessly, only with much faster boot and software loading. Windows 10 desktop machine.
