Built using their V-NAND 3-bit MLC NAND flash technology and Pablo controller, the 1TB 980 PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD from Samsung offers an M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe 3.0 x4 / NVMe 1.4 interface to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 3500 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3000 MB/s. Users will also have access to encryption via AES 256-bit, TCG/Opal 2.0, and MS eDrive, while a TBW (Total Bytes Written) rating of 600TB helps ensure a long operational life. This SSD also features a smart thermal solution to effectively manage heat, as well as a nickel coating and a heat spreader. Additionally, thanks to Full Power Mode, which is enabled through Samsung’s Magician software, the 980 can run with no latency, so you can easily switch between interfacing with large, intensive work files or graphics-heavy games.

what you expect when you buy a product is that it performs as advertised and if anything goes wrong the manufacturer will stand behind their product. my 980 ssd failed, suddenly and without any warning 3 weeks ago and i still do not have a working ssd. i did not get what i expected when i bought this product. based on my experience with the 980 ssd i would say overall, it is a bad product. i would not recommend this product to anyone – do not buy!!!

I recently bought this to replace the original 128GB SSD in my 2016 Dell XPS. It was a nice upgrade. SSDs have come a long way in the past six years, both in terms of capacity for the price and speed. If you have own an older machine that is user-serviceable, I highly recommend getting some tools and upgrading your SSD. It’s well worth your effort!

I needed extra storage for the videos that I edit. I picked up this 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD because I had read good things about the speed and reliability. Installing it was a breeze. I formatted the drive to my liking and edited some videos to test out the speed. This drive was blazing fast. It also allowed me to export faster because the encoder wasn’t being bogged down by the drive speed. As for reliability, I transferred files to and from this drive and it never lost performance in the time I have had it. I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking for more storage for their laptop or desktop.
