Don’t waste your time or money on this tablet because you will regret it. The tablet is super slow and the inconsistent WiFi connection due to the cheap internal antenna will have you going crazy.

Great tablet!! But I bought this Galaxy Tab A with 8” screen a few nights ago, a main reason being so I can use the Termux app on it. But the Tab A and Termux are apparently not working well together. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the Tab A or the Termux app. When Termux is running on my Tab A, characters aren’t appearing on the screen immediately after being pressed on the onscreen keyboard. But a sequence of characters appears after I press the spacebar. I looked online, and other people say they’re having the same problem. When will this problem be fixed? Again, I don’t know if it’s a problem with the Tab A – maybe just its onscreen keyboard, or a problem with the Termux app, or both. But Termux seems to work fine on my larger Samsung Galaxy, and on my OnePlus 6t smart phone. I also left this same message, except edited as appropriate, in the comments section of an internet page for the Termux app. I hope Samsung and/or Termux can correct that problem pretty soon.

This is everything you would expect from a leading android maker like Samsung. It’s fast, has a long battery life and a great screen. Updates to Android 10 as soon as you connect to wifi. 20 gigs of free space to put apps on and expandable Micro SD storage. Not much Bloatware and some of it is actually useful (MS Office). Good solid durable construction. All around a great tablet, glad I didn’t opt for some second rate company for the same price…

I was so lucky for last minute Christmas deals and came in just right away before Christmas. My niece really enjoyed and learning game. Since I’ve an old one couldn’t handle, some apps won’t work or unavailable for Android versions, and apps crashed. Got this one working really well and almost all day battery life than old tablet. I’m happy with that. Also, don’t forget to purchase bumper case for kids, they might throw anywhere that’ll damages the tablet. Thank you, B&H. You guys are awesome!

Great size and performance for engaging with school online. The google parent controls are excellent so you limit games and enforce screen time.

Loved my tab 8, big screen, and it’s portable. I would highly recommend this product and any other Samsung product.

It looses connection often, the touch screen is not very user friendly. That being said, the unit is worth the cost.

I have the 2015 and the 2017 Samsung Galaxy Tab A units as well. This new SM-T290 unit was purchased because the 2015 tablet’s charging port seems to be worn out. Benefits- This new tablet has a brighter screen than the 2017 model unit I have. Also I did a 5-hour movie lap test on all three devices. This new tablet has 75% of its power, whereas the 2015 model only had 50% of its power after the test. The bad-Is I really have an issue with this tablet, no longer having a physical ‘home’ button on the front. You have to tap the screen a few times, to get the virtual home button to appears. Also, it does not have the magnetic case ‘sleep’ feature. Which just means when I close my ProCase tablet case, it doesn’t put this tablet to sleep, like it does with the others. Meaning I have to physical click the ‘sleep/wake’ button on the side and then put my password in, each time I want to use it.

i had my previous tab a sm-t380nzke and absolutely loved it, but unfortunately it was stolen and decided to upgrade. what a disappointment! it has a constant lag and glitch while playing games. what is even more disappointing is that i can’t even load apps to my microsd card! it would be very helpful if they would state what exactly can be placed on the external memory card. if i’m not doing something right for this to happen i would like to know and would consider changing my 1star rating!

this tablet has an immensely slow response time or no response at all. i can press for the keyboard to pop up and have waited & waited for it to pop up or had to press multiple times for it to pop up. websites also load very slowly. sometimes i press the iii in the menu to close certain apps & i have to press it several times for the open apps to show up. even typing this review is taking longer than normal and although i didn’t click on “add video” to this review i was stuck on the page to add video. i had clicked “no” to if i would recommend to a friend. i 100% do not recommend buying this tablet based on my experience. unless you enjoy slow responses & being frustrated.

i OK, I was enticed by the price, but, I did want a backup for my 6 year old Galaxy Tab S2. The S2 was Samsung’s leading high end tablet then and this current Tab A seems like a twin, only a hair narrower. Comes with Android 10 and has 22.4 GB usable memory and 2 GB ram. How could you ask for more?

I bought this with the expectation that it would be full featured. It is not. Even though it comes with Android 9, Samsung has crippled the capabilities of this tablet. First even though it is touted as being able to watch movies this model does not have the ability in settings to share screen/smart view capabilities that I have on my tab A 10″ which is an older less expensive model than this one. Second Samsung has removed the ability to store/run applications from the sim card which has been available for the last several generations of Android. So you only have the ability to store applications on main memory once that is full you are done adding applications you can NOT offload some of the applications onto the SIM card. SIM card is only for pictures, music and video storage nothing more.

Bought this last December. It was ok. Then 3 months ago it started dropping WiFi. I tried support, WiFi reset…..everything. Eventually I switched to slower WFi, and it seems to work. I have 7 other devices and this one is the only one that does it. Cheap piece of junk. Should’ve bought other manufacturer, this is not the only Samsung product that I am having quality problems with.
