I am doing the photo archiving for my organization’s 85th anniversary and am scanning piles of old photos. I can plug the drive right into the scanner which saves me extra steps.

I use these SanDisk Cruzer Glide USB flash drives as Windows Recovery drives for all my computers. As such, they work perfectly, giving me extra piece of mind for those days when everything goes wrong.

THis product was used to send several large datasets to multiple colleagues. A great way to ferry data that is generally too large for cloud-type transfers.

I bought this 64GB to have a backup copy of my digital music. It’s tucked away for safe keeping. The price was right and I’ve had no past problems with SanDisk flash drives. I use several 32GB as movie media for use on the TV flatscreen USB and they’ve worked well for some time now. I keep them in a case so even though it retracts, the still exposed end is not an issue although some prefer better protection. The price is what attracted me to this drive at 50 cents per GB.

I use these flash drives to copy photo files to, for my family. They in turn take the flash drives to a photo finishers to print from. I find this way better than burning a disc or e-mailing files. They are easily cleared or left as a back-up device.

Honestly, this product does what it is designed to do: Store data (photos, videos, etc.) Also it does not have a detachable cap (instead using a sliding mechanism) so you do not need to worry about losing it. All in all, it is a pretty good product for its price if you are looking to store data. It also works well with ReadyBoost, not that you should ever use ReadyBoost. However, I was looking to install an operating system (OS) on it, something I would not recommend anyone do. This is for two reasons: First of all it is not very fast at reading large numbers of files quickly. This means I cannot even open some programs on the system because it is just too slow. Also sometimes I cannot even boot because an OS is not detected in time (fixable on my BIOS though) This first problem is compounded by the lack of USB3 support. This means I have to use my much slower USB2 drive, though the Glide still seems slower than other USB2 flash drives.
