This drive functions as expected, although it does get quite warm when in use. I tend to use it for moving files from one system to another, which it does with no issues. If I needed to leave it plugged in over time I could be concerned the heat may lead to early failure.

After reading countless poor ratings for ALL brands of flash drives, I decided to go with what I knew and trust B&H. The ratings on this exact product seemed much better that all the rest and I needed a three pack of 32GB thumb drives. While I won’t be putting these to some type of exacting torture test, I will be replacing a promotional drive that held my tax info–until it crashed. I believe these will be just fine and the price and delivery is excellent.

This little flash drive is a speed demon on a USB 3.0 bus…and of course it’s backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 2.0. It’s tiny, and unlike many other flash drives, its slim profile enables it to fit easily into the USB port on Apple’s most recent extended keyboard without interference from the underside of the keyboard plate. Some flash drives are just too fat to fit there. And it’s sufficiently narrow that it won’t interfere with other items plugged into adjacent ports on MacBook Pro models that actually have ports…you know, the ones Apple made before they stopped caring about user convenience. Actually, I have only two gripes with this Ultra Flair USB 3.0 Flash Drive: 1. It has no cover to protect the connector. I don’t mind the fact that it doesn’t have a built-in cover; that would just make it fatter when it’s plugged in…not necessarily a good thing. But SanDisk should have at least provided a slip-on plastic cover to protect the connector when the device isn’t in use. I keep mine in a small plastic medication bottle to protect it. 2. The device gets very hot…I mean VERY hot, which makes it unacceptable for use in any application that requires the flash drive to remain plugged in for long. That’s not a good thing; high temperatures reduce the lifespan of all electronic components, and I suspect that this little flash drive wouldn’t last very long if I left it plugged in. Fortunately, I only use it for transferring files, and it’s so fast I never have to leave it plugged in for very long. One star off for the gripes, but otherwise it’s worth what I paid for it. If all you need is a file transfer device that doesn’t stay plugged in for long, this does the job.

These won’t block other ports that are next to the Sandisk. Data transfer is pretty fast and clients love the look. Easy to grasp and pull from the port. Not much to improve on, it’s perfect.

This drive is tiny, has a lanyard hole, transfers data fast on my pC, but I have a minor concern that it gets very hot to the touch after it has been in the USB slot after awhile. I don’t know if this is normal — we shall see how long it lasts

This drive is so compact that maybe it should be called a “pinkie drive” rather than a “thumb drive.” I can’t comment on the included software since I always reformat and use such drives as a clean slate. I will note that the drive gets rather warm very quickly. Other drives with plastic housings may generate as much heat, just not noticed as quickly due to the insulating effect of the plastic. This drive is metal and the heat is felt almost immediately. Perhaps this simply dissipates the heat faster. I haven’t loaded many files on it yet but at USB 3.0 speed it should be pretty handy.
