The SanDisk 256GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB 3.1 Flash Drive (USB Type-C / Type-A) works like a charm, but,… It is tiny/miniscule. So much so, that I had to attach a keychain to it so it wouldn’t get lost. Worth every penny!

I have an older (2016) computer so it is much slower than advertised and runs VERY hot. Cannot touch it after a few minutes in Type-C plug. Runs slightly cooler in the Type-A slot than Type-C.

As others noted, it heats up fast with usage. Got very warm to the touch just transferring 2gb of files to it. Half using the USB-A plug (started at 60mb/sec, then dropped to 35mb/sec; half using USB-C plug (stayed at 65mb/sec for a full 1gb transfer). Slower than I expected. My tests done on 2-yr old Win 10 copying from a 7200rpm disk. Copying from a flash drive, it did 175mb/sec steady.

The positives are that this drive is solidly built, with fast file transfers. The negatives are that no matter which way you rotate the 2 plugs, one of them is going to be exposed. The other negative is that you’ll notice the weight difference between this drive and others with plastic bodies; even more so if you’re carrying a bunch of these in your bag. Overall though, I’m for rugged build and fast file transfers. That’s why the 5 stars.
