I wasnt disappointed. The drive is fast and portable. Ill be buying a few more. Anyone who is looking for a portable storage option should seriously consider this one. The item was priced good and shipped very fast from B&H.

Case in point, was trying to back up a full 240g XQD card on a USB 2 drive, We were shooting on location and the client wants to leave with the footage. My computer says it will take 45 min. So I switch to a Sandisk Extreme, the time is now 12min. I am DONE with spinning drives, who has that kind of time? Yes these drives are more expensive, and yes they are worth it!!

This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a little smaller than I had imaged and that is actually good. About 2/3 the size of an iPhone 7 and much lighter but feels solid. It’s comforting to know there aren’t any moving parts. installation was easy on my iMac. I’ve had it in use for a little over a week with no issues of any kind. Will be mostly be using it to archive photo files.

I’ve now purchased (2) SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD drives over the 2021 holiday season. The first was the newer 2TB V2 version of this drive, and then I bought this 1TB thinking it was also a V2, however, it is a V1. The speed is still decent and I’ll find use for this in my line of work as an event tech/media specialist.

So much better storage than the way we used to save our memories!

From the perspective of someone who doesnt know much about computers, this thing is pretty fast and not to difficult to set up. remember that if you are setting up for mac, you have to expand the disk options in the disk utility if you want to rename/rewrite the drive. Faster than my external USB2.0 HDD. Comes with USB-C and a USB-C to USB 2.0 converter if USB-C is not what you are going for.

This device is delightful. Not all that much bigger than a thumb drive, but far faster on my USB 3.0 machines. Remarkably faster than a spinning drive. I really like the easy-to-grip finish. I’m glad SanDisk included a simple USB-e to USB-A adapter instead of an additional cable, but I wish the cable was a few inches longer. This minor quibble isn’t enough to warrant knocking a star off, since the device itself is outstanding, as was B&H’s price. I’m looking forward to using mine for photo backup on the road and various other things.

Just received the drive less than 3 days ago and it’s already stopped working. Only had it plugged in maybe 5 times.

After a lot of research on a fast, yet affordable SSD drive, this one won by far. The Samsung SSD 2TB was comparable, but the writing speeds on this was enough to make me go this way, along with the more rugged capability/ hook to attach to a card. It also helped to have a sale happening through B&H!

I like that it’s formatted in ExFat so that it easily works between Mac and Windows machines. Because it’s solid state, it’s rugged. I have yet to edit with this drive but will and update review.

I’ve already written a lengthy review about Lightroom freezing up on me, then restarting my computer and then this SanDisk drive not mounting up again. I use it on my iMac. That same day, after writing that review, the drive decided to suddenly mount up again on my computer a couple hours later as I was trying to recover the footage from it. Ever since then, whenever I’ve been using the drive and have had to restart my computer for one reason or another (it’s been Lightroom troubles lately), then the drive doesn’t mount up again for another 30 minutes to an hour. I can restart my computer 10 times and it won’t mount up. It’ll just mount when it decides to mount again. Let me be clear………If I start my computer normally, after it’s been shut down in a normal fashion, then the SanDisk drive will mount up just fine when the computer boots up. But if my computer has to be forced to shut down due to a problem or a crash or from freezing up, then that’s when the drive won’t mount for awhile after booting the computer back up. Today I was working in Lightroom and my computer shut down due to a power problem not related to my computer. So I restarted my computer and sure enough I can’t get the drive to mount up again. I’ve unplugged it, changed the cable, restarted my computer, nothing works. This is actually the 3rd time this has happened to me and this time I’m at least a little more hopeful because I do believe it’ll mount up again whenever it decides to do so. In fact, as I’m writing this, it just now popped up on my desktop. So my computer was restarted 30 minutes ago and now the drive has finally decided to mount up (it’s a relief each time I do see it finally pop up). Before I decided to write this new review (as I was sitting here hoping the drive will mount), I did a little deeper research online and this mounting problem appears to be a pretty common problem with this drive. I’ve read some things from people that have had the exact same experience as me, where it mounted up on it’s own time. Some people were saying they couldn’t get it to mount up at all anymore. So the frustrating thing is……. this is a great, fast little drive. PERFECT for storing all my photo work and working straight from Lightroom with it. But this mounting issue is REALLY frustrating when if a computer problem occurs and I have to wait (and hope) for it to mount again. It makes me wonder if it’s finally going to decide not to ever mount again at some point. I have no doubt SanDisk knows about this issue so hopefully they’ll get this issue fixed. Until then….. buyer beware!

love the sandisk portable ssds – i have the samsung t5, the g drive ssd, and these sandisk. the sandisk is my favorite built for how small and smooth it feels. in my DIT kit i keep a couple of these drives and they have traveled and bounced all over yet still work great out in the field. i’ve also been able to run windows 10 off of it externally bootcamp. some people online have said they can only get the other SSDs (any brand but SanDisk) to work but i was able to after thoroughly formatting it in disk management on Parallels and by booting into Safe Mode /Security Startup on the mac side and making sure that Security Boot was set to no security – this is mac’s T2 Chip preventing devices like this to externally boot off it. Very happy with it for all purposes i’ve used, highly recommend.

Pros: -super fast download and upload speeds, makes file transfers an absolute breeze! Files that would normally take minutes to transfer now only take seconds! -An expensive but EXCELLENT alternative to USB sticks which take FOREVER to transfer files with. Cons: This drive gets kinda warm to hot with very large files which concerns me a bit about its overall longevity, heat is the enemy of electronics…. Overall: If you are a professional or a student GET ONE. It makes life so easy on people who work heavily with digital files and need a faster alternative to your USB stick, which is why I bought this. It makes deliverables easy to handle.

This was the first external ssd I ever bought, so I thought they were still the size of a phone, I was pleasantly surprised it is the size of a credit card. I was able to copy around 1k raw photos in 30-45 minutes, the same set of photos took 1.5 hrs copying to a cheap hard drive. This can be used for video games as well. Forza horizon 5 runs perfectly from it.

Very impressed with write speed. Also small physical size and weight ideal for travel. Hope it will be robust enough. Excellent delivery service from B&H.
