I bought this hard drive to serve as both a backup and working library for my unedited and archival hobby photos. With the number of photos that I take, I don’t want to overload my desktop computer with excess material other than those shots I plan to keep. So far, the SanDisk 2TB portable SS hard drive is fast and quiet. Only time will tell, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars for now. But; I’ve been a loyal SanDisk user for many years and have confidence this item will do the same. B&H, as usual, was quick to send it to me as soon as it was in stock. My only problem was the SanDisk website did NOT recognize the serial number of the item when I correctly entered it on repeated attempts. I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem.

Works as advertised. Only quibble is it runs hot to the touch I was hoping for improved battery life. I don’t have run time numbers but my guess is power use is about the same as my old mechanical external hard drive.

My wife and I travel a fair amount and I always want a good-sized drive to take along. I use this every evening to make sure I have a backup of every shot. I hook it up to my small laptop and let Nikon Transfer use it as an image backup drive. The primary images are loaded to the Laptop HDD and the backup to the SSD. Once thats done I can format the card ready for the next days shooting.

Engineering and photography share a need not to have single point failures. Redundancy is a must. The small foot print of this drive works amazingly with my notebook.

2TBs of data fit in this disk which is about half the size of a deck of cards and light as a feather. Wow! And it works so fast that it’s almost as though it’s an internal drive.

I have used this a bit on the Pocket Cinema 4k but I mostly use it on my Mac.

Needing a safe hard drive to back up photos & videos, the SanDisk Extreme does exactly what I need it to do. Amazing fast, and compact- I am really happy with the purchase. I am most pleased knowing there are no moving parts that will eventually ruin the drive causing me much distress like a previous disk drive did. So relax, and have one delivered today!

I bought this for my iPad Pro (2018) 12.9″, and it works GREAT! I can download videos and pictures onto the SanDisk and keep more room on the iPad.

I bought this SSD, to supplement my external editing hard drives. Glad to be able to hit 450mb/s while using the USB A to USB C connection

I mostly use this with Lightroom on my laptop. I found it interesting that connecting with USB 3.0 (using the included adapter), it is faster than the SSD on my laptop both in benchmark rating and actual CrystalDiskMark results. I find it plenty fast and cant imagine how much faster it would be with USB 3.1. Time for a new laptop?

I bought this to use with my 128 GB Macbook pro 2019 and I’m amazed. It is so small, works great, and is really fast. I reformatted it to APFS apple file system, it took 2 seconds only. But the exFAT format worked just fine for Mac and windows. Regarding the speed, this one is just really fast with its 550MB/s. There is no need to buy the Pro version which is using the thunderbolt max speed, this one is much cheaper The cable is great, perfect size and short (you dont need a long cable for such a small SSD drive).
