This is my first portable SSD, expanding my external storage capabilities as my other four external HDs are about full. I needed a faster write drive for my huge Z9 photo files and this doesn’t disappoint. It also is helping me get by before upgrading my computer, which is choking on these files. The SanDisk SSD is a worthwhile temporary solution while also serving as long term storage solution. Yep… I’m sure I will purchase another when this one fills up.

I tried to format the new SSD but it ran for 30 minutes with no success. Called Sandisk and they were very helpful. Short story is to update the Mac operating system if using Monterey. After that, the formatting took just a few seconds. Premature to give a five star rating but most likely the SSD will be fine.

My previous SanDisk 2TB was metal and a little smaller. The new 4tb has a plastic covering which heats up A LOT when in use. I am a little nervous about how long it will last. I also wonder how the unit can be water resistant if the connection port isn’t covered.
