REALLY NICE!!!!

Purchased a couple months ago to replace an external media HDD that was several years old. Obviously faster response times. No issues so far, hoping it holds up.

Once you get one of these you will never be able to go back to traditional hard drives. It’s so small and light, and super fast. GET IT!

Get these! Don’t get the Samsungs. They cut out randomly, corrupt files, and break things. Not to mention costing you a fortune in lost time and headaches. SanDisk knows how to do it right. – A videographer/photographer

Its a very fast drive to use. And tests confirm this too. I like the rugged look, but I am not going to test that aspect of the drive. Its small and very light weight.

Satisfied with the product, satisfied with the price, satisfied with the speed of arrival

I bought this drive to replace another 2 TB SATA drive for backing up photo and video archives. I have had two other SATA drives fail due to head crashes and wanted something more fail-safe. SSD was the right solution. I was pleantly surprised how quickly and seamlessly I was able to rewrite the files to my new drive, and again by how instantaneously I can access them now. I have been watching the prices of SSD drives decline steadily over the last few years, and combined with agressive Black Friday deals, finally made my move. This drive is attractoive, compact and handy. Because if is an SSD drive, I no longer feel compelled to remove it to conserve its useful life.

I purchased the 2TB version of this as part of a recent daily deal. I have a couple other similar drives from Samsung that have worked flawlessly and found this offering as an additional option for a video editing drive for my M1 MacBook Air. The extent to which I have used it to date has been to copy video and project file onto it from my smaller 1TB Samsung drive and to do some preliminary work. The files copied fine and so far the drive has worked well for editing. One concern I do have however, and the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that during the bulk file copy, the drive became very hot to touch. While it kept working fine, the heat it generated was a bit disconcerting as neither of my other external SSD drives had ever gotten this hot. I found several online posting regarding the same concern about this drive. I would think that prolonged heat would have a detrimental effect to the life of the drive. So in the end the drive is working fine, and I will keep working with it, but time will tell if the heat becomes an issue.

This thing has definitely sped up my workflow for astrophotography, large panoramas, and video! I used to dread the stacking and processing photos for astro and panos because of the time it took to transfer the images. No more! The write speed gets my images over in less than 5 minutes instead of the 20-30 minutes before. I also love being able to work directly from the Extreme when editing videos. Now, I can use the Extreme for all the heavy lifting and then transfer the result and project files to a larger, slower drive when I’m all done. Working on a fast drive means I can stay focused on my creativity and not get distracted while waiting for things to load and process.

This is a great little drive, especially if you can find it on sale. Tiny, quite fast (I get 950MB/s write, 900MB/s read on a 2018 MacBook Pro). Great for 4K video, even better for still photos.

I have been using so many different external hard drives. This SSD is smallest. so much faster than EX hard drive. I would like to try Pro version soon.

Perfect as a companion to my 1TB and 2TB versions of the same drive.

There is a newer/faster version of this SSD available but this one is faster than my SD or XQD cards I am using in my cameras. They advertise up to 1 TB SSD speed. I am getting just shy of 900Mbps on my 2020 iMac through the USB-C hub I am using. It is fast enough for my needs. The newer version of this drive will go up to 2TB. B&H had a good sale going on these for around $300 off and I get everything I order from them super fast, like within 3 days. Sandisk cards have been reliable and fast in my cameras so I expect the same for the portable SSD I have on my computer.

Reformatted for an Apple environment. Easy to get started. No speed issues after two weeks of video editing off of it. A good replacement for Rugged LaCie drives in my workflow because of its small footprint and SSD build.

My main concern that was it may not be compatible with macOS Monterey, but happy to say no issues with 12.0.1 version. There were reports it wasn’t compatible, and only earlier versions of macOS were listed on the drive. No problem. Please note that I didn’t evaluate if the drive encryption can be enabled with no issues. Kudos to BH Customer Service who said they are not aware of the compatibility issues with Mac, and if I have a problem, they will take the hard drive back within 30 days.

It’s very handy and easy to use.

Wish these had two ports so you could daisy chain (MacBook Pro TB/USB-C ports are at a premium these days) – other than that – they are great!
Hailie Greenholt (verified owner) –
Certainly as claimed. There are none that match this in speed and lightness

With kind of tech, one doesn’t need a computer with a huge SSD drive anymore. Saves $ and versitility.
