Got 2 of these to increase the capacity of the 2 TB SSD drives I have used in the past. Had some trouble initializing them on the M1 chip Macs. No problem with the intel chip Mac. I guess I still have to keep the old laptop around just incase. Once initialized they worked great. Not as fast as the faster version but much mor affordable by my standards.

As a travel photographer, this is a very small device that doesn’t take up much room in my camera bag or computer bag. I use it when traveling to back up my current photos to. Then download to my mass storage unit when I return. I have several different SSD drives for different collections, The SanDisk Extreme has proven to be the best for travel.

The title of my review says it all. But i also want to add that this is fast and reliable. I had only bought samsung T5 and T7s before this but when I got this I was impressed at how small they managed to make this. Yes, they are smaller than the T7s!

This is my 5th drive in use (on 2 computers). Very happy with the series. I use them as external drives. Fast and compact.

To be clear, I’m not disappointed at B&H, you guys rock. I’m disappointed at Sandisk and/or Apple because I can’t use this product the way I intended. I did do my research before buying and everything said that if you had these connected to a power source (Apple branded adapters) it will work. It doesn’t…so I’m left with an HD that can only be used with my iPad…which is okay…but not my intended purpose

It’s so lightweight and fast, definitely will be my new on-the-go drive.

After thinking about buying the Samsung T7 2TB SSD for quite a long time, I am so happy I did not because once you have this little stunning SanDisk SSD in your hands, you realize it’s the best hard drive of all time. I recently got a new 14 inch MacBook Pro with 4 TB SSD and did not want to back up on my Seagate 4TB, which although small, still has a spinning hard drive. I decided to splurge for the SanDisk 4TB Extreme Portable SSD V2 and I still cannot believe how gorgeous, small and light weight this amazing little drive is. There is no competition! This is the future and to be able to have a 4TB SSD to back up my internal 4TB internal is really a dream! You have to hold it in your hands to really believe how far technology has come. It’s so small that you can take it with you anywhere for peace of mind as I typically leave my hard drives in a hotel rooms when I travel as they’re too big to carry around. You can even put your keys on this thing and it’s also waterproof! As I said, there is no substitute. 🙂 scotty

We are spoiled – 1gb SSD in a tiny nicely designed case that is very fast. What a world. This also has the fast interface as opposed to having an SSD that has to work through a narrow pipe. It is slighty more expensive than similar devices, but it a very nice design that, despite its size, won’t slip from your greasy fingers. I suppose it would be nice to have an integrated cable – but whatevah.

I love these drives! I have been using them for remote podcast recording as my backups, I have also used them for our Photography, Video and Live Stream productions. These drives are secure and fast. I have even edited in Davinci Resolve and Premier Pro without any issues. I have used these drives for so many applications: 1. Recoding Virtual events with ATEM MINI ISO 2. Tethering from LightRoom 3. Recording video footage on Canon R and a few other camera’s. 4. Recording and Playback on the Hyper Deck Mini’s Great and hard drives and truly worth money!

The SanDisk is supposed to attain up to 2000MB/s with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port. My MacBook Air M1 has Thunderbolt/USB4 ports (40BS/s), but they downshift to USB3.1 (10GB/s) with this drive. (This happens with other USB3.2 drives, too, so it’s an Apple thing, not SanDisk.) With the Mac seeing it as USB3.1, it achieves read/write speeds of about 750/680MB/s. (Yes, a bit faster writing than reading.) That seems slow, but I got essentially the same results with a 2000MB/s Intel SSD in an Acacis case, so the Mac may just be slow when dealing with these more-than-3.1-but-less-than-4.0 drives. Disappointing, indeed, but there may be good technical reasons for it. Speed aside, it is not much bigger than a fat credit card, and gets only mildly warm with normal use. It comes with an unusual one-orientation only C-to-A adapter and a 6inch C-to-C cable. I use the ‘finger hole’ in the drive case to suspend it with a piece of wire from a hole in the protective case I have on the Mac. That takes at least some of the stress off the C connection.

It is a good product

Good speed, very stable/reliable, and the size/weight is fantastic.

I love this drive. It was my number 2 behind a belkin. I like that drive, but I think that I like this one better. Sees like it will hold up better to the traveling it will need to do.

I got two of these for backing up my photos while I’m on the road. The speed is perfect for editing directly in Lightroom, it doesn’t feel any slower than editing photos from my internal SSD.

Big performance in a small package. Fast enough to host video and still projects.
