Great drive, but not always needed It’s not as fast as the newer “pro” model but it’s fast enough for heavy duty tasks. It’s hard to justify the added expense of the Pro, though it is 2x faster. The Sandisk Extreme 3.2 thumb drive is a third the size of this drive, but only about 20% as fast. Still, I prefer the smaller thumb drive in my TV since it’s fast enough and easier to hide. Neither require external power for my Sony Bravia TV, but they both require external power when plugged into an iPad. I do love the short cable and USB-C to USB-A adapter that were provided.

I just used one of these 4TB units for our bi-annual physical server backup (this is in addition to the daily into-the-cloud backup). They’re small and flat enough they can be shipped to the hosting site in a regular FedEx paper envelope. And plugged into USB 3.0, they receive large files fast, at speeds ranging from 210 to 250 MB/s. Folders full of Jpeg images move at around 100 to 150 MB/s. They get hot to the touch during the 3 hours they are receiving data but they keep on trucking. Definitely worth the premium price.

The SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD V2 forms an integral component for backing up images while on the go. Its foot space is about half the size of an iPhone 13 Pro. I have purchased four within the last year or so. Read and write speeds are competent.

These are such an improvement over the large desktop back-up units I’ve been using, with special connections and noisy hard drives. This type is plug and play, and so small I have to make sure I don’t misplace them. Though a bit expensive, I am hoping they will last a long time. So far so good.

It’s too early to draw conclusions, but…the stuff acts fore-five times faster than my HD and doesn’t really warm up. i’d say -it’s acts as swiss watches (so far).
