Incredible portable SSD with massive amounts of storage. I bought this on a Black Friday deal for $650 off making it a no brainer. No problems thus far editing 4K footage in Davinci Resolve.

Great for editing my 4k and 8k footage. great from my new MacBook Pro M1 Max computer

I wanted something smaller than my passport drives with lots of space for backing up photographs while traveling. Nice sleek design. Small but high capacity.

this is exactly what is required to get the job done without issues. It’s the best in-the-field HDD I’ve found to date. Essential high-speed transfers (550MB/s read speeds). Small, compact reliable, durable; rugged, water and dust resistant, this is exactly what is required to deliver video and high resolution photos quick. It also looks cool.

Got it for photography editing/storage. It’s delivers fast read write as stated. Other reviews mentioning that it’s slower probably do not have the correct USB specs required USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (USB Type-C), I/O speeds is dependent on the source and destination hardware, not just the drive.

Used this as backup for all my photos while on trip to Galapagos. Exceptionally fast and secure. Size is perfect and weight is minimal. Able to feel confident that all my shots were safely backed up.

This drive really shows how speedy a USB-C external SSD can be. When I’m using it to back up my files, I often see speeds in excess of 1 GB/s, even with the drive formatted using NTFS. The drive itself is solid, and leaves the impression of durability. Can’t say that I’ve tossed it off the roof or dropped it in the loo to test it, but it’s obviously well-built. Worth the money, especially when it’s on a good sale.

Super cool and small 1 TB drive – is the PRO worth $100 more than the Extreme. I can an afford it and I’m more than extreme i’m an extreme PRO

I love this drive I’m a 4K 6K video editor and this little drive really delivers. Great for moving large projects from the studio to a remote working environment. I edit on a MacBook Pro, I love how this drive doesn’t disconnect on me like other USB-C/thunderbolt 3 drives. Being able to connect to USB and move files is a huge plus. You’re not trapped to only using thunderbolt 3. Super fast!

The size and amount of storage is great. For the price, it is well worth buying to secure pictures.

very very fast

This is a great little drive but boy is it expensive and good luck finding a computer that can unlock its full potential and speed. I have a new Razer Blad 15 with all the bells and whistles and it can only read it at half the advertised speed. Apparently, I need to have a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 to use at the advertised 2,000 MB/s. I was told however by SanDisk that the new MacBook Pros should be able to use the drive at the advertised speed.

BIG Let down is: It says this disk is Up to 2000 MB/s Read & Write Speeds, yup I know it’s UP to, but this was way slower than the expectation. I ran multiple tests and disk formats, via USB-C and thunderbolt 3 ports, never exceeded 1000mb/s, best result is hanging around 900 mb/s MAX. I brought this external SSD for video editing and reviewing, clearly cannot handle 4K 50p or more. I bought the 4TB version of this PRO SSD v2, and the funny thing is that this is supposed to be better than the SanDisk 4TB Extreme Portable SSD V2, which is labeled as Up to 1050 mb/s and $200 less. I simply can’t understand why this PRO version cannot go beyond 900 mb/s but still cost $200 more than the standard version, especially since the standard version is labeled for1050 mb/s?? I can’t say that the standard version is maybe also fake labeled(?) but I don’t feel like I want to make another purchase to just test it. My bottom line is, if you’re looking for a faster SSD for your video editing over mac, maybe better off looking somewhere else. if the Blackmagic disk test does not approve it, you should avoid it. I end up ordering the SanDisk Professional 2TB G-DRIVE PRO SSD Thunderbolt 3 External SSD instead right away after the testing. I know it’s still from SanDisk and 2TB less with the same price point, but I would like to try once more since I trust the name of G-DRIVE from my previous experience. I’ll run parallel tests for both before I return this one and we will see…

I use two of these on my 2022 MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and they do get quite warm, almost hot, under normal use. Well, for me normal use is a lot of 4K editing. They work fine and are fast, but I have to take care to ensure they have air space around them.

I bought this to expand the storage of my 1TB MacBook Pro, I work primarily with large D850 files this drive makes it quick to transfer files between devices with speed. Given the speed I’m sure this would be excellent for high resolution video as well. I have not used the included cable, but have used with an OWC TB4 cable. Build quality is excellent, wish there was a cover for the connector given this product is marketed to be rugged and designed for the adventurer. Also wish there was an 8 TB version

Super fast when connected to a Thunderbolt 3 or 4.

Tiny for 2TB, and super fast
