I use this as my main editing drive now. Small, reliable, fast, portable, quiet, and lots of space.

Plus fast!

Light as a feather. Typically you know when you’re yanking on an external drive; older spinning disks had some weight to them. I’ve actually picked up my laptop and didn’t realize it was attached. Speeds are better than my old non-SSD; not crazy about specs but I know this will speed up video processing. After a corrupt CompactFlash from Transcend; I ONLY TRUST SANDISK!

The SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD V2 is the perfect size for my photographic backups during my travels both nationally and internationally. Within this past year, I had purchased two SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD drives and am totally satisfied with their performance. The SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD V2 offers more rapid read speeds, up to 2000 MB/s, as opposed to 550 MB/s with my previous purchase. SanDisk (now owned by Western Digital) made an extraordinary move by creating this product. I would not hesitate purchasing more of the same (or similar) in the future, especially when B&H offers them at an exceptional price point.

Super quick, small and portable, light weight. Perfect to pull footage off of to throw an edit together.

It’s a small device that can hold huge amounts of data. Nice design and well built. But most important, it’s super fast! Recommend purchase.

I bought this to backup my old hard drive and had 800 gigabytes of images and documents. The transfer was smooth and the only constraint is the slow speed of the old drive; the SanDisk is fast, quiet, and fits in the palm of my hand.

Fast — Easy Setup — Reliable — Small Size

I’m using this for the virtual machines with VirtualBox. I don’t feel any improvement in speed, even when resuming saved virtual machine. Size is larger than the predecessor model. Of course, the price is higher, too. Cable is longer and no USB-C adapter therefore you may need to take 2 cables instead of 1. I just don’t see a big advantage. However, if you constantly copy files back and forth, newer one may save time a bit. The price difference between 2 models is small enough to consider upgrade. Both models get very hot when using, but newer one may be slightly lower temperature. But it is just my feeling and I hope someone can compare side-by-side thoroughly.

I bought it but the reading and writing speeds are only 950 Mbits/sec and I was promised upto 2000 Mbits/sec.

Very simple to connect up and store files – just what I needed for my new MAC laptop ,,,, elegant, powerful, and easy to use.

Light weight and fast. Got this for my M1 Mac. And this is the best choice I made. Faster computer needs faster transfer.

Recently purchased for photography work and have been very happy with the drive performance. A+

So easy to forget to have an offline backup. This is a great solution. Looking forward, if I had the budget, I would have gone for 2 TB option.

Perfect storage devise. Very fast.

The Sandisk 2TB Extreme Pro is touted as a super fast read/write SSD, but I find it only a little faster than my old Seagate external drive. It takes 25 minutes to back up 540GB of photos. Additionally, the connection port seems to be loose. I have to be very careful not to bump or move the SSD after connecting it to my computer. Doing so sometimes causes it to lose connectivity, and I get a device improperly disconnected message. Especially bad during file back-ups. Not sure if this is just my Sandisk SSD, or if other users have experienced the same issues?

If you’re on a Mac the speed is going to be around 900, not the 2000! Very disappointing and missleading. If it hit the advertised speed, then I’d give it 4-5 stars.

V2 is twice as fast as the SanDisk Extreme (V1) on both read and write on a Macbook Pro 14 with M1 Max processor. Not quite as fast on an Intel Xeon W-2255 machine with Samsung SSD 980 Pro NVMe, but still fast. I use it as my photo database and Lightroom.

I have used SanDisk SSD drives for a while in photo-video protection and storage. The data transfer rate is a game changer. This PRO version has a relatively higher transfer rate and greatly affects my daily photo/video transfer. Also, the size is so practical to carry with you all time.

I was interested for my Macbook Pro 2019, which only had 500 GB hard disk, to run my Photos app through a faster outside disk. I attached on the side of the body of my computer and it runs smoothly and fast.
