Have been using earlier versions for several years. Light, compact, and very fast.

What do you say about a hard drive, it writes fast, it’s small, and the materials are high quality. The orange bit is actually machine aluminum.

As a video editor, I’m constantly looking for better ways to store client footage. Though not cheap, this solution works great for my specific needs of editing lots of footage without worrying about how much space I have left on my system. This lets store and edit all my client footage from one location. I use the smaller 2TB drives as back ups for current client projects. I love that I can take my footage with me and edit on the go with my MacBook Pro if I need to, without skipping a beat. It should go without saying, but you need a Thunderbolt cable to get the most speed out of this puppy.

I have the 2TB (non pro) model of this which I really like. But this newer one is even better because of how fast it is. Such an ideal size & design. I wish the cable had an adapter for USB-A like the older model, instead of it coming with two different cables like it does. But I’m guessing they need to have a dedicated cable to take advantage of the speeds.

Transfer speeds are very fast, but the only downfall is that it does tend to get really warm.

I have a 2TB V1 for some time and bought this 2TB V2 as a second backup of photo and video off iPad Pro and MacBook. This is USB not Thunderbolt drive so don’t expect and get disappointed with the speed as it won’t give you the speed specified with Apple. However, I use it as backup and don’t do any editing on them so it’s no big deal to me. I read some YT reviews stating since the speed is limited on Apple, why spend extra money on the faster Pro V2, but my experience is V2 is noticeable faster than V1 on my MacBook, iPad Pro is less different. Therefore, there is speed advantage with Pro V2. The drive is small, the rubber ISS finishing is nice to touch, it does get warm to almost hot in sustained connection/usage. I don’t like the security software of this drive so I didn’t turn on encryption which means I don’t want to lose it so I don’t keep anything confidential or personal on it. I carry a spare empty V1 1TB drive when I travel so the potential loss is what I shoot in the trip and not my entire backup.

And quite compact for a 2TB. Easy partitioning in Disk Utility to APFS. Highly recommended!

Super fast and super lightweight. Very portable, design feels sturdy, and no moving parts is a big plus. Great upgrade from the LaCie Rugged.

This drive is as advertised. It is rugged and fast and gives the peace of mind of being an SSD. I use these drives for backup shoot storage and am tired of spinning disk version which eventually stop spinning. As I make several backups I seldom lose anything these days when external disks fail but these give that extra safety margin. Expensive, but so are photoshoots.

The SanDisk 4TB Extreme Pro is a very fast drive. It’s great for editing video. It was nearly impossible to format as an AFPS drive, though. Clearly, the exFat drive worked, but wouldn’t be useful for Final Cut. Searching, apparently, Digital Western hasn’t released an update for Monterey. Eventually I found a user’s page and the advice to use my 2019 Intel Macbook Pro USB-C cord, and that did the trick. The SSD then formatted fast and perfectly (hence the 4 stars).

I use this with my BlackMagic UMP12K. The SandDisk writes data as fast as the UMP12K can feed it though the UMP12K’s USBC port. After that, transfers to the editing station are also very fast.

Extremely fast. Just ensure your computer has the appropriate ports to handle the most up to date USB technology. Many will not be able to take advantage of the full speed of this drive.

Used as back up and it failed less than 24 hrs. I bought 4 in total Steve

This is so fast for editing, and current video projects (to be later archived on other storage). Very good.

I use this SSD to back up my Macbook Pro M1 Max. It works well. The cheaper, smaller, and older, Extreme model works just as well for my purpose. Had I known that I would just have purchased 2 SSD’s of the Extreme model.

This is my 2nd Extreme Pro. The 1st is a 500MB. I was using it for video processing, saving everything to the external. Works so well that when I wanted more storage I bought the 1TB, and converted the 500MB to a backup that my MacBook can start from. Used CC Cloner to create the 500MB backup, and now the 1TB is my everyday video drive. If you have a MacBook with a USB-C port, you will be very happy with the incredible speed of these SSd’s

I love these small, sleek portable SSDs. This one is the fastest yet and works great for editing 4k video on my laptop from it. Wish I could get it in a 4TB verion!
