These SSDs are great for on-the-go projects that need to be worked on directly from the drive. They are so light that I can velcro them to the back of the screen and not worry about the drive coming unplugged.

I use this with my BlackMagic UMP12K. The SandDisk writes data as fast as the UMP12K can feed it though the UMP12K’s USBC port. After that, transfers to the editing station are also very fast.

Use this beauty on our Blackmagic ATEM Extreme – never missed a frame from any of our (6) cameras! Got to love ISO!

I always bought the bigger and heavier hard drives thinking it will be more efficient. I was wrong. This SSD has surprised me in so many ways. It’s extremely fast, lightweight, and just works. I recommend for everyone.

Works great so far. I’m getting around 920 MB/s reading and writing; which in my experience is pretty good considering the advertised speeds. It feels really great in the hand, and I’m hoping to get a lot of life out of it.

Awesome!

Will not work on my Tascam BD-MP1, A standard hard drive does work just thought I would like to have an SSD Drive, But No Luck

This drive solved our problem of not having enough disk space for the Lightroom catalog and all photos on the computer. This allows us to move the drive between laptop and desktop, keeping all the files together.

Usually you pick two from fast, cheap and good. This little drive hits all three! A really awesome and fast drive for multiple applications.

Very, very fast.. Can record h.264 streams straight out of my Tricaster Mini with no bottlenecks. Great external drive & the Pro is worth it for assured write speeds. If you’re just keeping files on it for long term you may not need the pro, but this is like a Raid drive for your PC or laptop to quickly work with files.

Super quick, small and portable, light weight. Perfect to pull footage off of to throw an edit together.

Buyer beware. This drive is small and convenient but don’t buy it if you’re looking for speed. As mentioned by many others, in real world applications this drive will not reach anywhere near the 2GB/s (2000MB/s) maximum read and write speeds claimed by SanDisk. You’ll be lucky if you ever get even half that speed. I have a new 24 M1 iMac and even when using a Thunderbolt 4 cable plugged directly into my iMac’s Thunderbolt port, the fastest it ever got was 900MB/s for very short bursts. Most of the time its max speeds were in the 600MB/s – 800MB/s range when backing up my iMac to Time Machine.

I own a few from this SanDisk family. A great and affordable (especially when discounted) way to store photo catalogues, as an added external storage. When using an M1 Pro and above the faster speed of this version is a valuable upgraded.

Ideal size, great speed, durable and easy to transport. I’ve only used a short time and hoping it will last without issue. Using for Video Editing, especially when I need to travel with a project to a client etc.

Lots of space and fast. Great for traveling.

This is my second SanDisk pro portable SSD. I like the design and the fact i can attach to my case if needed with a ring clamp to avoid loosing it. No complaints and always have had good outcomes with SanDisk products

The drive works great, but 99% of people don’t have a computer with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port (not the same as USB 3.2 Gen 2) and would be better off getting the *non-PRO* Extreme SSD V2 and not this Extreme PRO V2. I’ll explain with some bullet points. – At some point they changed the names of the USB standards: USB 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 are now known as (respectively) 3.2 Gen 1, 3.2 Gen 2, and 3.2 Gen 2×2 (extremely confusing). – USB 3.2 Gen 1 has a maximum of 5Gbps – USB 3.2 Gen 2 (what the *non-PRO* Extreme SSD V2 uses) has a maximum of 10Gbps – USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (what this Extreme PRO SSD V2 uses) has a maximum of 20 Gbps. – USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 (the ports on new MacBook Pros) have a maximum of 40Gbps, but they’re not backwards compatible with 3.2 Gen 2×2, meaning that if you plug this drive into a USB4 port you’ll only get 3.2 Gen 2 speeds of 10Gbps. – The *non-PRO* version of this drive has USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds of 10Gbps and costs a lot less than this Extreme PRO. – No laptops that I’m aware of have USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, and most desktops don’t have it. Most likely if you want 3.2 Gen 2×2 speeds you have to buy a one-port USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe card for around $50 (which is what I did). – Because most upcoming devices will likely have USB4 and *not* 3.2 Gen 2×2, it basically makes no sense to get this drive vs the non-PRO version (unless they’re the same price). So, unless you’re one of the extreme few that already have USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 or you want to buy a $50 PCIe card for your desktop, you’ll almost certainly be better off with the *non-PRO* Extreme SSD V2 and saving a couple hundred dollars. If you *do* have 3.2 Gen 2×2 (again, not the same as 3.2 Gen 2!), then this drive works very well! I get great speeds with my $50 Gen 2×2 PCIe card (~1800MB/s–yes megabytes not megabits) and have had no issues so far.

this is exactly what is required to get the job done without issues. It’s the best in-the-field HDD I’ve found to date. Essential high-speed transfers (550MB/s read speeds). Small, compact reliable, durable; rugged, water and dust resistant, this is exactly what is required to deliver video and high resolution photos quick. It also looks cool.
