This drive is small, super fast, and reliable.

Although this drive is pretty fast, I really don’t notice much speed difference between my other 3.1 USB flash drives. I thought it would be waaay faster.

This is my 2nd Extreme Pro. The 1st is a 500MB. I was using it for video processing, saving everything to the external. Works so well that when I wanted more storage I bought the 1TB, and converted the 500MB to a backup that my MacBook can start from. Used CC Cloner to create the 500MB backup, and now the 1TB is my everyday video drive. If you have a MacBook with a USB-C port, you will be very happy with the incredible speed of these SSd’s

Pathetic on USB C ports w/o thunderbolt. Otherwise ok. Works on both Mac and PC.

Nice and fast! Very easy to use and it’s so compact! One of my favorite ssd out there!
Werner Schimmel (verified owner) –
Worth spending the extra money on this one over the slower / previous generation.

Good product

Better than my expectations.

The SanDisk Pro is the perfect SSD for my workflow. I’m consistently transferring gigs and gigs of footage for my job, and the write speeds on this guy make it so fast. I almost always have it connected to my computer. 4 stars – because it’s not black. It’s blue. And that doesn’t affect its functionality at all. It’s merely my preference, ha. Get this if you’re even thinking about it.

Small in size but fast for a USB SSD backup drive. Did not get hot during a complete hard drive backup. Made a first time 500 GB bootable backup using an iMac in just under 9 minutes.

My Acronis backups of 2.5TB data completed within 95 minutes and the backup software reported speed of 2992 Mbps ( full data effective speed as it uses compression). The same backups to other drives (non-SSD) used to take me over 7 hours to back up.

Does what it claims to do, fast transfer of data. I’ve clocked over 1000 mbps on my macbook pro while using a thunderbolt cable. I generally save my RAW files on the portable SSD and edited JPEGs on my computer. Also, I’m an impatient person, I don’t have to wait too long for image transfer on this external drive. another pro: Fits in the palm of your hand, no matter how small your hand is.

I have both Extreme SSD’s and now an Extreme Pro SSD. Test results using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test show no significant difference in read/write speeds between the Pro and the non-Pro. Tested on MacBook Pro, 10Gbps cable. Both V2 models. The Pro is still a fine SSD, but I see no reason to pay the extra 40-50% for the Pro.

The unit is being used with a maxed out M1 Mac Mini. The highest speed is when plugged into a Thunderbolt port and it reads a little over 1,000 MB/s. Advertised speed 2,000 MB/s. When plugged into the USB-A port, it achieves a little under 400 MB/s or less than 50 MB/s. Now that it is stable, we leave it plugged into a USB-A port–the Thunderbolt port is not available. When we have switched USB-A ports, the speed always drops. We have an older lower speed model and we have not experienced a drop in speed when changing ports. Outside of that, the unit is a reliable workhorse.

I just wish I went for the 2TB, this one is full and I am now out of room completely. Think about your projects now and future before buying. Always go with the idea, you need to have a backup that leaves 25-30% open for growth. I hope this helps another B&H Photo customer to make a good decision. Remember, that video takes up a lot of room.

Pulls a little under 1TB from my DJI Mavic 3 in a little over 15 minutes. Burning fast.

I use this crazy fast drive for all my photos and Lightroom Catalog. Really handy when on the go, but also when just managing photos from home.

I use two of these on my 2022 MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and they do get quite warm, almost hot, under normal use. Well, for me normal use is a lot of 4K editing. They work fine and are fast, but I have to take care to ensure they have air space around them.

I use these SanDisk portable SSD’s for saving the photos I take while traveling. This 4TB is hold more large files than I normally take on long trips, unless I am shooting with a 40-500 mega pixel camera. I am sure it also hold large video files as well. SanDisk is well known for highly reliable drives, memory cards and everything they produce. This drive comes with two cables, USB-C and USB-c to USB-3, they pretty much hook up to every port and style port you can use these days.

Used as back up and it failed less than 24 hrs. I bought 4 in total Steve
