The SanDisk 2TB Extreme Pro Portable SSD is built with NVMe technology for fast read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s, which fully saturates its USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface. As a portability-focused drive, it’s both lightweight and compact, and built with durability in mind. It has an aluminum body, which helps to dissipate heat, a durable silicon rubber coating for impact resistance, and it’s IP55 rated for water and dust resistance. The Extreme Pro Portable is compatible with Windows and Mac systems without any drivers. Connect it via USB Type-C or USB Type-A with the included adapter. Additionally, users can use the SanDisk Secure Access software to create a password protected folder on the drive for keeping data secure.

When I checked the read/ write speed using CrystalDiskMark software provided by SanDisk, it is less than 50Mb/s as against the 1000Mb/s mentioned by the manufacturer. Please see attached photo.

Bought this as an upgrade to another portable hard drive I have for when I’m shooting on the road. It’s super fast and I don’t have to worry about a spinning disk since it’s solid state. Also, being solid state it seems to draw less power from my laptop. The biggest plus is the extra speed though. Great little hard drive

It is light and easy to travel with. It’s 2TB which is the biggest I’ve ever bought and will need with cloud storage backup. It was the perfect answer to my storage solutions as I’m in between two Macs one with old ports and one with new USB ports. Haven’t had it long, so I can’t comment on durability, BUT I bought to use as an external startup disk running El Capitain for use running Adobe CS Programs and for that the speed is excellent and well worth the price.
