Description
The SanDisk 2TB Extreme Pro Portable SSD is built with NVMe technology for fast read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s, which fully saturates its USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface. As a portability-focused drive, it’s both lightweight and compact, and built with durability in mind. It has an aluminum body, which helps to dissipate heat, a durable silicon rubber coating for impact resistance, and it’s IP55 rated for water and dust resistance. The Extreme Pro Portable is compatible with Windows and Mac systems without any drivers. Connect it via USB Type-C or USB Type-A with the included adapter. Additionally, users can use the SanDisk Secure Access software to create a password protected folder on the drive for keeping data secure.

Did a speed test on the drive and read/write speeds were under 1000MB/s- less than half of advertised max on a MacBook Pro via USB C. Disappointing for the premium price I paid. Is it worth the money?

APPROXIMATELY measured at 3/8ths of an inch thick, 4 &1/4 inches long, and 2 &1/4 inches wide, this sweet little SSD drive won’t take up a lot of room in your bag. It comes with 2 connection cords, a USB type A to USB Type C and a USB Type C to USB type C. It also has an area to attach a carabiner clip or a lanyard which is a plus. I can’t speak to performance issues as I’ve not used it yet.

I’ve been frustrated with this SSD since I got it. I have the older version which is also 2TB and it is MUCH smaller. That’s not an issue per say, but what I’m struggling with is that this drive constantly ejects itself while plugged into my Macbook Pro. My Macbook is fully stationary and hooked up to a 27 monitor. I didn’t have these issues at all with the older version. I’m perplexed at how the newer version is an inferior product.

So far so good. Partitioned into 2 volumes, Music and Video. Created folder Teslacam into the 1st partition(video) for sentry mode and dash cam. Used 2nd partition (music) for mp3 and mp4. Lets hope it will be durable and last several years.

I’ve owned several of these drives and bought a couple more with the recent price drop. They are highly reliable and very fast. As a commercial photographer I move a fair amount a data per project and I often have to work between locations, so fast storage you can actively work on without slowing down photoshop (accessing and saving image) is super helpful. I can have 10tb of available hard drive in a very small profile (several 4tb drive take little more than the space of a smart phone.

Once receiving this drive I performed back to back recordings at the highest PRORES Bitrate available for recording to an approved external SSD.
