I bought the 2TB version a year ago and just oogled the 4TB until I finally bought it for myself for the holidays. These are so cool. Super light, super small, and super fast! Great for editing video off of! Great for editing giant raw photos off of! (I have a 2019 Macbook Pro). Also great for carrying around on your travels! These have held up to multiple drops and to being chucked in a backpack with a bunch of other things and sometimes sand and dust and whatnot.

Very small, light, rigid and quality for high speed and storage value. Solid state is more reliable than HDD, and much more compact and lightweight. Strongly recommended.

Took this along on my vacation for pic and video storage. No special setup needed. Works right out of the box.

I am a musician and have a number of hard drives for my studio. What used to take me 45 to 60 seconds to load a particular instrument file now only takes about 5 seconds. Highly recommend it!

This SanDisk 4TB Extreme Pro SSD is durable, small, and lightning fast. I’ve transferred 1TB from one of these to another in under 20 min. Highly recommend for anyone looking for high capacity travel drives that have fast data transfer rates and are easy to transport.

What I like most about this portable SSD is I can transfer files between my MAC & PC. The WD Passports would not allow me to do this so I had to use several jump drives for different tasks. The 1TB storage allows me to keep all tasks on the same SSD….and it’s much faster too.

If you are thinking of using this 4TB SSD with the claimed 2000mbs R/W speeds with a 2021 MacBook Pro M1Max or M1Pro, you will only get close to 1000mbs. This is only 200mbs or so faster than the previous SanDisk external SSD, which claimed 1000mbs. So, to sum up, the SanDisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SSD Using with latest 2021 MacBook Pro M1Max with Thunderbolt USB 4 ports. 1000mbs claimed – get 700mbs 2000mbs claimed – get 925mbs At 900+ speeds, my workflow is super fast plus this 4TB SSD is not as hot as the Samsung X5 2TB, which does transfer faster on single files.

First drive of this type, and I was not expecting it to be that small. Very fast, very portable, will be getting more.

I got this on sale, but at market price, I would pass. Apparently the pro isn’t really any faster than the regular model.
Rowland Hermiston (verified owner) –
Works as advertised and flys through file transfers with ease. I reccomend getting the 1000+ read write instead of the 500, a world of difference.

I bought this for dive traveling, which has been nil since there is a pandemic. But I can really see how handy this will be in the future. It is really small and thin. I could carry it is a shirt pocket. I have tried some video transfers with it and it is fast and efficient, great for transferring image and video files at day’s end. So far, the experience has been excellent. It seems to warm up quickly but it is not overly hot. I also like the rubber base and the ability to hang it from something is handy in tight quarters, like those found on a ship. So ar, great product.

$349 down the drain. After very limited use it just stopped mounting and it can’t even be erased. EXTREMELY disappointed. Expensive drive for such catastrophic failure. Google it and you will see I am not alone.
Wendy Jenkins (verified owner) –
It’s a solid build, fast, nice drive. Nothing negative to mention yet, working as expected.
Jarrod Cartwright (verified owner) –
This is fast, reliable and small enough to travel anywhere. I’ve used several of these, 2tb and 4tb and they are great

This is a great little drive but boy is it expensive and good luck finding a computer that can unlock its full potential and speed. I have a new Razer Blad 15 with all the bells and whistles and it can only read it at half the advertised speed. Apparently, I need to have a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 to use at the advertised 2,000 MB/s. I was told however by SanDisk that the new MacBook Pros should be able to use the drive at the advertised speed.

Noticeable upgrade to data transfer rate. I have had the previous generation for some time, and it is bulletproof.
Raleigh Koch (verified owner) –
The drive is great for large photo and video files. Fast transfer rate.

This drive has worked great since I received it. I do a lot of edits in Final Cut, and this has freed me up to be able to take projects on the go. The speeds on this thing are unreal! Would buy again!
Mariano O’Kon (verified owner) –
It is so portable but not speed as it say that is all about my concern. i wish it meet as it say in details… it say 2000+mbs Read and Write but when i check it says below 1000+RW… from both blackmagic and crystal apps… also say it wont support 10bit 2160p50 and 2160p60

I bought the SanDisk Extreme Pro to use with a new MacBook Pro. It does what it is supposed to do; fast transfers and a very convenient footprint.
