I bought this for use as a work drive for video editing in Final Cut Pro, and it turns out to be perfect for that. It feels just as fast as the internal SSD, and is small enough that it doesn’t clutter up my desk.

As a video editor, I’m constantly looking for better ways to store client footage. Though not cheap, this solution works great for my specific needs of editing lots of footage without worrying about how much space I have left on my system. This lets store and edit all my client footage from one location. I use the smaller 2TB drives as back ups for current client projects. I love that I can take my footage with me and edit on the go with my MacBook Pro if I need to, without skipping a beat. It should go without saying, but you need a Thunderbolt cable to get the most speed out of this puppy.

This drive held all of my sound libraries in my mobile studio, so it was only used every so often. Today I found out that it has completely died. While it did work really well during its very short life, not lasting an entire year of only being used a couple of dozen times definitely lands a two star. I treated this drive with the utmost care and protection, it was my favorite SSD that I owned because of its speed. It really bites seeing it not work anymore. This is why it is important to always have multiple back ups of the exact same drive for immediate replacements.

Wow – this thing is tiny. It is weird. It is kind of like having a mini-truck with the payload of a gigantic industrial dump truck with tires as large as a house. Except that it is also fast. So, a giant dump truck with a twin turbojet engine that does zero to sixty in three seconds.

These are my absolute favorite external hard drives. They are tough and also so compact. I like ordered these from b&h because of the great customer service and fast shipping.

Light as a feather. Typically you know when you’re yanking on an external drive; older spinning disks had some weight to them. I’ve actually picked up my laptop and didn’t realize it was attached. Speeds are better than my old non-SSD; not crazy about specs but I know this will speed up video processing. After a corrupt CompactFlash from Transcend; I ONLY TRUST SANDISK!

I bought this SSD because I needed a faster workflow and faster transport speeds. This SSD works extremely great and I love the size and feel of it. 10/10 would recommend this one over the others!

This is my 3rd SanDisk SSD. So far my experience with this drive and the Extreme Portable has been great. The drives are small, easy to stash, fast and reliable. The hole on the edge of the drive is useful to lash it to gear. That’s a nice advantage over the Samsung. However, the measure of a drive is how it holds up over time. Perhaps I can come back with a 5 star rating in the future.

B&h has Very affordable price and product selection is always available. I decided to buy everything from here from now on.

Small and compact, easily fits in your pocket. Works very well, fast, silent. Stays cool while working. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased the SSD external drive to use with my LIghtroom CC software. Specifically I wanted to speed up the response time when using Lightroom on my desktop computer by loading the Lightroom photo catalog (lrcat) file on a SSD drive instead of a regular hard drive. The results have been great with the program probably loading about 50% – 60% faster. So I am very happy with the purchase!

I am very happy with the device. It is stand works well. I have it on a key Ring Hook and take it with important material that I may need in emergencies. Absolutely love the speed and ease of use.

Love this thing and works great with my 14″ M1 MacBook Pro. It gets pretty hot sometimes.
Schuyler Orn (verified owner) –
It’s easy to set up and really fast. The only downside: it’s way pricey.

Doesn’t work with Monterey OS, ughhhh

I have had several external SSDs and this is one of the few that I have felt comfortable to cary everywhere and to store everything while on the go. Granted I always back up my files on other drives and cloud storage, but this drive keeps me at ease when saving critical working files.

The drive is small, very sturdy with 2 terabytes. Cable is just the right length & works great with the M1 iMac. Connects to the Thunderbolt port, USB 4. Hoping it lasts a long time. Great price as well!

I wanted a portable working drive for photography, some place to temporarily store and edit pictures. But my old external drives are slow. This drive is not. It benchmarks nearly 4 times faster than my best spinning drive. It’s already made working on my edits faster and easier.

With the cost of SSD coming down, I’ve been slowly replacing my external hard drives with SSD counterparts. Not only are they bus powered, but also they are significantly faster and super compact. I always buy SanDisk because I’ve have two-decade-long perfect record using their SD cards in my camera.
